New/Reopening of Bases

This is always a fun one… now that precovid flying levels have returned (mostly), what is the likelihood of some old bases potentially reopening? Or some new ones being looked at?

Just wanting to pick the minds of some of you on here

I could see DAY closing much more than any new base opening especially with DCA growing 2x as from Oct to Nov.

I’m trying to picture a situation where Dayton closed but no other base opened. That’s hundreds of people that would now need to be distributed among 3 spots. Would there be enough flying to accommodate that or would there be a furlough?

You guys do know that the main driver of the outstation base bus has left PSA "to pursue other opportunities," right?

Former head of Crew Planning. It was in a press release a while back.

It would be nice to have an additional AA hub as a PSA base.

I think a lot of us would love to see that. No doubt most would prefer DFW, but in my time here I've also been into LGA and ORD a fair bit, but not recently.

With regard to DFW, it will be interesting to see how other non-WO AA FFD contractors can staff their operation there in the coming months.

what a lot of people seem to forget is that we are still down from our precovid pilot numbers. 200+ didn’t come back from furlough. Granted we lost the 200s, so it kind of offset that but still. We’re losing captains and first officers like crazy. We don’t have the pilots to open another base, not right now anyways.

I’d venture to say Dayton will be definitely be around until all training is transferred to Clt, and even then I’m not sure they’ll close it.
