PSA Upgrade Bids
Hi guys and gals, UPS MD-11 guy here. Quick question, I am pretty familiar with your minimums for upgrade. I have a friend flying with you that I think is in line to upgrade soon. How often are vacancies for Captains posted and awarded? Do you guys get into forced upgrades or does the DEC mitigate that?

Classes are every 2 weeks, 20 per class (on average).

People are only forced if no one bids for upgrade. Reverse seniority number, so the most experienced FO gets forced first (a safety thing). If you want an upgrade, you can pretty much have one. It is more of a standing bid rather than a true vacancy bid that you would be used to.

Forced upgrades were the rule more than the exception for a time period pre-covid.
a few people have been forced recently but not many
the classes were every couple weeks but have had some gaps due to sim availability. They will be running as fast as the sims allow
