if anyone has time I’d really like to get some info about the second interview. Seems the info they sent was very straightforward.
Have you not considered airlines outside the regionals? I’m not sure I understand what value there would be to a lateral move like that, particularly with 20 years at your current shop?

Give the dude a break. He was at mesa before 9/11… presumably he has considered other options

as for other options… I’d specifically avoid psa at the moment given their union issues with dec

‘I agree, toss in a app to the ULCCs or ACMIs

Well I’d certainly hope so. I just honestly don’t see the point of an almost backwards move for them.

You do understand that you're signing up for at least four years of constant super junior reserve right? All I can say is I hope you live in DC or Philly because you'll be sitting hot reserve there for a good long while.

Leaving 20+ years at one regional to start over at another regional is a really weird move. Have you already gotten a thanks but no thanks from Frontier, Spirit, Allegiant, Sun Country, and Jet Blue?

If you like having no life outside of hot reserve go be a DEC. Plenty of folks getting hired at much better places to work with ZERO turbine PIC. Don’t sell yourself short.

So what’s going down at MESA, sounds like you have inside scoop? Look at SIM instructor positions if you live in CLT nearly 100 hours pay for 13 days off vs reserve with 11 off and 75 hours.

I can’t talk too much about training, but as a forever-junior CA, expect incredibly minimal QOL. You’re guaranteed 11 days off, so expect that. Our grids are so red, if I were a DEC, I wouldn’t expect to go a single day without being used for something. You can do airport standby (hot) 8 times a month, no more than three days in a row. Expect that too, it’ll be (up to) 8 hours enjoying the sights of an airport.

You’ll get PIC time, but I’d be absolutely sure that it’s all you need to get an interview and get out, because for most, it’s an unsustainable pain.

As a CA on reserve in DCA, I was used every single day. I sat hot 3 times and got an assignment 2 of those times. Every other day of reserve I had a flight assignment. I ended up at just about 80 hours credit (before holiday pay was added) only working my awarded days. Great as a commuter since I only ended up getting 1 hotel room for the month.
