For a new hire FO, what’s the typical time to hold a line at the DFW base right now?
How has that changed over the past 6–12 months?
How junior is DFW as a base currently, and how realistic is it for a new hire to be awarded it out of training?
If not awarded initially, what’s the average time to transfer into DFW?
Are reserves at DFW being used mostly for short call, long call, or airport standby?
Has DFW been growing, shrinking, or stable recently?

I know it's an long list of questions but I am just looking for some general insight about this base. I really appreciate any response, so thank you guys!

DFW is more senior for FO’s. My FO’s have been telling me it’s a little bit longer to hold a line here. You may get awarded it not long out of training, but holding a line it sounds like about a year, give or take 2-3 months? That could change, but it’s what seems to be the case lately. I’ve had some FO’s get frustrated with how long it’s taking and decided to bid for CLT and go there for a little while so they could fly a line then come back.

DFW is currently 7-8mo for reserve and 13-14mo for a line. It is the most senior base by far. In comparison, you can nearly get a line out of training in DAY.

Long call waits are basically the same as a line everywhere, so you will be short call. Airport standby happens when you’re junior and they need it. There are limits to how much they can give you it.

What you can see now is what the last couple of years looked like. Hub to Hub commutes can be hard. I've seen 35 nonrevs listed and -4 seats plenty of time. So I'd plan on DAY or somewhere like that until you can hold DFW. You will be surprised at the time it takes to bid home - only question is good or bad surprise.

Yeah, DAY actually isn't a bad choice for you, because you'll be able to hold a line quickly, not worry about reserve, and have a nonstop flight there. The reason DAY tends to be junior is that it's not very commutable. Most people need a connection to get there.
