PSA or Eagle?
Guys,
Any insight from those currently flying for these regionals. If there was a choice between the two, who and why? I know about the TA in PSA and it holds a lot of weight, but aside from that (if it doesn't go through) what would be your choice? Thanks! |

Also, why are you limiting your searches to just PSA or eagle? |

Why dont you tell US what you hold important and we can offer some insight. Do you value money? Schedule? Upgrade prospects? Reserve rules/time on reserve? Commute/live in base?

Well, like everyone else I would love to factor all of that into my decision. However, the more important ones are live in base as apposed to commuting, and upgrade prospects. I am already hire by PSA with a class date of 10/7. I interview with Eagle on the 24th of this month. There are NO guarantees that Eagle will hire me, but if they do I would like to get some insight to help me decide. I live in SW Florida and a MIA base would be the best but I am prepared to commute if PSA is the best choice. I have applied elsewhere but have not heard anything as of yet. I think with the short time frames between PSA and Eagle, I don't think I will be getting anymore calls. Thanks in advance!
As far as where to go, they are both regionals and things change and change very rapidly. You will hear arguments for both but it's going to have to be who you are most comftable with and be willing to be there a while. Quick upgrades don't work most of the time, and lateral moves often lead to disappointments. |
PSA. No plans for Eagle in the horizon unless its for Ground service. They seem to be doing really good according to President Pedro.

I was concerned with fast upgrade when I first started, too. I picked an airline based on a supposed quick upgrade and I regret that decision every day. Fortunately, I just received an offer from a fantastic company so I'm moving to a better place! But, back to your post. Choose an airline based on the work rules (contract), bases/commutability, and quality of life (essentially a combination of the contract and how easy it is for you to report for duty). Understand you'll be on reserve for a long time no matter where you go. Seriously think about pay and what you, your hard work (past and present), and your skills are worth. I wish I did more research before I went to my first airline. But, I learned a lot and it helped me land my next job which should be better in all aspects. Be patient, figure out how to save money while living frugally, and stand up for yourself. I have no affiliation with either airline you are considering but I wish you luck in your decision.

Also, why are you limiting your searches to just PSA or eagle? PSA you will be starting at Knoxville or Dayton. Harder commute that DFW, NYC, ORD or MIA. Lots of movement soon at eagle and most of the MIA Sr FOs are from SJU and very close to upgrade. CLT is very senior in PSA. My friend it's being in PSA for two years and is one of the most JR guys in CLT. Ps: don't care about what RJ post, he just like to beat everyone looking at eagle. |
The infrastructure at Eagle is more like how majors are run. Not all regionals are the same. It's why many national carriers hire Eagle FO's along with other regional CA's. Example; this past month spirit just hired 15 Eagle FO's who are in class with a bunch of CA's from places like Mesa and RAH.
Being a junior sky nazi makes you a known product. |
Thanks again everyone for your input. I will be interviewing with Eagle next week so I guess I will take it from there. If I get an offer, I will decide then. If not, I will be starting groundschool at PSA in October.
