PDT and PSA info

Hello,

Anyone have any input on training and bases?

Thanks.

PDTpilotXX 03-12-2014 06:08 PM

Yes. PDT in her death throws but if you want 5g and get 121 current to move on... Welcome. Out station bases, SBY ROA EWN CHO and MDT. The training is tough. Study and have a good attitude (others will have more to say on this I'm sure). Some of the best crews though. As for PSA you won't find any PDT pilots with a good thing to say about them though I'm sure some PSA apologists will be by shortly.

starcheckers 03-12-2014 06:14 PM

Gotcha and thank you..I have two offers from both and not sure which one to take. I have a few weeks to decide. I think the AQP is a good idea also.

Duksrule 03-12-2014 06:24 PM

Where is PSA putting the new 900s? Also how many people will it take to staff 30 planes? I have no 121 experience so that is why I ask. From the outside looking in it would seem like upgrade time will shrink a lot there. Lastly what are the chances of flying there and taking a short leave of absence for say 60 days unpaid a couple of times a year? It isn't reserve duty but I have another commitment I am trying to work around.

Taking 2 months off a couple times a year? Are you kidding me?

Good luck even getting 2 days per week.. ;)

skyxbomb 03-12-2014 08:50 PM

Upgrades at PSA are currently at 6.3 years. I'm sure it'll drop as with many other regionals out there. They did offer leave of absences last year around this time. Don't expect that this year or any other years from now. Safer choice is PSA over PDT until PDT gets a new fleet plan. I'm sure a lot of that depends on how eagle will vote on their TA.

Go to Piedmont so you can **** and moan about the same thing over and over. I assume by your screen name you work for AirNet?

Evidently, if you are going to ask questions like this:

Every airline will have AQP at some point. Don't make a decision based on that.

Go to PSA so you can vote for the first offer management throws your way, no matter how awful.

And I agree we ***** a lot.

BSOuthisplace 03-13-2014 04:26 AM

Word is PSA has a new TA. Pilots will get iPads in exchange for upping healthcare to 80%. I think you guys should take it, you might get shutdown if you don't. Plus they're iPad airs! Ooh shiny!

Now that's something I might actually vote yes for since I'm under my wife's insurance!

cartean 03-13-2014 05:11 AM

PSA bases CLT, DAY, TYS with speculation of a new base in the future with the new planes. Day and TYS are junior but most are getting awarded CLT before done with training.

Indoc and systems is in Dayton, sim is in Cincinnati with a small chance of it being in charlotte.

I'll just post facts, there are many others here who love posting their opinions so I'll leave that to them.

JetToy 03-13-2014 05:37 AM

Beginning pay at both?

fullflank 03-13-2014 07:24 AM

PSA has a CLT base and will probably get another hub base soon if you're planning to commute. PSA has 30 additional planes coming (allegedly) that will drop the upgrade time to 2 or less years. Pdt is shrinking. Even their VP jumped ship to PSA. The Pay is higher at PSA except for year 1 I believe. Pdt might be at 27 while PSA is at 23 per hour. Flight experience you'll get at pdt is a dash. Places like atlas and emirates and other over seas jet operators won't touch you without glass time. Things to keep in mind. You pdt guys shouldn't give career advice. You're ****ed we get that, but why f&ck up some new guys career.

PSASUX 03-13-2014 08:30 AM

Actually we are getting the new shiny iPads along with bigger coffee cups on the airplane. And I hear if we vote again just to **** people off we might get new seat covers in the flight deck. So come work for PSA. You'll love it.

Wait a minute, new cup holders too with those cups?!? You're saying I'll be able to fit my vente Starbucks coffee in there without having to elaborately maneuver it under the chart holder? This place really is looking up.

skyxbomb 03-13-2014 09:27 AM

LoL

Anyways!! Despite the stupid pay caps for shiny new jets and selfish future security, the QOL is actually pretty good once you're a line holder. Almost any line holders can get 15 days off if you want to or credit at least 120 hours a month if you want. I think we hit a record where a junior captain credited 202 hours in December. I don't like the fact that we took pay caps either but in reality, line holding pilots here are making at least 20-30% more than your typical regionals while working the same amount.

starcheckers 03-13-2014 01:40 PM

Yes I did....

Might be one of the most baseless, pompous and arrogant statements I've ever seen on here.

Agreed, frmr. I think the responses in this thread give the OP a nice illustration of the attitudes he/she may encounter at one of the two prospective companies.
