PSA's Facebook Page

I noticed a story recently from PSA's FB page promoting a story about one of their pilot's who had recently flowed. The pilot was described as being a 10 first officer. I instantly wondered how somebody would remain a first officer for 10 years. When I questioned PSA, they claimed he'd declined to upgrade.

Does that seem weird?

Blueskies67 06-27-2016 07:12 AM

Some guys stay as FOs so they can stay in the training department as ground instructors.

Ask any Envoy or ExpressJet pilot and they'll have an easy answer for you.

Shots fired

I know that guy, and he recently sent out a message on another site that he did not say the things that they have quoted him as saying. He answered a few questions about delivering the new 900's, but the rest was made up by the company.

Hopefully those ad's will be gone soon. I hope he can sue the company.

Wow. That is pathetic. Putting him on the FB page and quoting stuff he never said? Pretty insane your employer would do that. I would be ****ed.

Why would someone decline a more liveable wage?

Schedule
Vacation
Holidays off
More time home with family
Possible second job/income
Works in training

Lots of possibilities

[QUOTE=d5pilot;2151615]Why would someone decline a more liveable wage?[/QUOTE

QOL, plus wasnt his only source of income.

HighFlight 06-27-2016 08:16 AM

Not everyone depends on their pilot salary alone to live. And there are a few for whom money doesn't matter as much as QoL. Some things, money truly cannot buy.

For a company that likes to fire pilots over the social media policy, this is quite ironic.

Or he is now regretting his responses, and seeing how pathetic he looks.

WakeWash 06-27-2016 02:45 PM

Yes he did have better QOL and all as a senior FO, but that isn't why he bypassed. He tried once, and failed. Was too cocky during upgrade and it cost him. PSA's policy is if you fail a second time it is at the discretion of the company if you keep or lose your job. So he didn't wanna chance it and stayed put for the SSP/Flow. Personally don't like the guy. How many times did he post on the Facebook page to let people know he was flowing or did flow? Like rubbing it into the pilots faces.

sweetholyjesus 06-27-2016 07:25 PM

Pilot fails upgrade training at regional. Sits right seat forever and proceeds to mainline no questions asked. I guess seniority really is everything... Must be nice to have a flow.

Was thinking the same thing.. Sad. You should have to at least pass upgrade training to flow.

PSASUX 06-28-2016 08:47 AM

Who wants to be a right seat biatch their whole career?

Just think of all the legit reserve captains puttin in the work while this guy fails the same training, sits pretty on his arse as a senior regional FO for 10 years.....and still moves up before them. Sickening.

I wonder about the future of AA's pilot group as it fills its ranks with guys like this.

Nothing says that he will pass AA's training.

That's what I was thinking. There's a lot of assumption that the flow is a guaranteed job. It's a garuanteed seat in training, nothing more. AA still has many wickets and ways to remove undesirables. I don't know the guy and I wish him luck but we might see him back here at PSA as an FO.

schmohawk 06-29-2016 05:27 AM

Classy Ya'll. Way to throw a guy none of you know under the bus.

CaYaTeKbron 06-29-2016 05:47 AM

^^^^ with you schmo!!!....and jealousy, the only career that promotes envy among peer....pathetic, each of us has a story, different,....
And to the FO, good for you, congrats on your flow and success in your training....

If your ceiling is not made out of glass, plz throw the first rock......

wow, i don't think pdt has even gotten to 15y guys yet or barely has.....that's crap imho

i'm sure some eag..sorry envoy  guys would probably agree about that

Strykerinf 06-29-2016 09:06 AM

Maybe he chose to bypass upgrade due to external factors. How would it be any different than career guys at other airlines who bypass upgrade and retire as FOs?

Dig the fleece jacket, the almost buttoned up shirt and the almost tied tie.

In comparison ALL of Envoy's flows are qualified captains and from a very demanding training program. The future flow there that is projected to kick-in sometime later next year will allow F/O's at least for now, unless that agreement is changed, which is quite possible. Hopefully, this guy will leave his cockiness at the door in AA training.

stanthecaddy 06-29-2016 10:43 AM

Just looked at the fb page, i dont even see anything talking about this dude. Maybe they took it down.

Maybe they did, I don't know, I stopped using Facebook.

It's still up on the PSA website though.

How do you keep up on your funny cat videos and political memes? Aunt Linda just had her bunion removed. How are you going to keep up with the minor life events of your extended family?

Not my point. Why do airlines require 1000 TPIC or PIC to become an FO? Read what others say and you'll get your answer
