Need a new headset... Advice?

Im looking for an ANR... The only two that Im considering thus far, is Telex 850 or Sennheiser 25. Which one the better choice? Thanks in advance!

I had a Sennheiser. Good set, but if you're going to fly long legs (>4 hours) the on-the-ear thing gets tiresome.

I use the 850, no complaints.

I've got a Pilot PA-1779. Not a well known company, but I've had two of their headsets and like them. What I like best is they are a little less expensive. I bought mine (from Spinners Pilot Shop) for I think $435. One of the things I like best is it has a self contained battery and you charge the headset like a cell phone. The charge lasts 40 hours.

I got my Telex 850 for $400 about 3 years ago...no batteries runs off the intercom and doesn't need to be in hot mic to do so.

I did the same research and chose the 850. I am very happy with it. It is quiet enough, it does not require batteries (which are very annoying and potentially expensive), and is comfortable enough for a 3 hour flight. Plus it is small and case and all does not take up very much room in my flight kit. I do not regret my choice at all.

Note: If you are going to be flying an ERJ, get something much quieter.

I have a telex 850 and i think it sucks. I fly the CRJ and the radios sound like crap. It is really hard to hear the controllers and with the ANR turned on they are not understandable at all. It makes them sound like they have socks in their mouth BLAH BLAH BLAH is all you here. They other day I jumped with JetBlue and used a sennhieser or however you spell it and it was crystal clear. However to really compare the two I would have to use the same aircraft as well. I have an email into telex and I will see what happens and if they think it is a fault of the 850 but at the moment I am going to use my DC standbys.

Send it back and get another one. Mine works perfect in the CRJ, no distortion issues at al. I'm willing to bet that yours has some type of defect that needs to be fixed. Everyone else that I know with 850s loves them.

FYI my volume is set to Low and the ANR is turned on. Having the volume on hgih might screw it up, I dunno.. I havent tried it yet.
