Default Is the MEI worth anything to the Majors?

Is the MEI rating worth anything on an application to the majors? Would it be worth having when applying to internal positions or anything else that could give a resume boost?
I've been thinking about adding this on, just not sure if it's worth paying the $3k to tack on the additional instructor rating. Thanks for anything that people can chime in on.

I'd be interested to know this as well. I currently only hold a CFI/CFII but heard having your MEI will tack on an extra point on some applications.

Any truth behind this?

No. It doesn't matter in the slightest. In fact, you don't need an MEI, or even a CFI for that matter, to be an instructor at an airline.

Ditto. You don't need it.If you want to do it for your own personal reasons so be it ,but from a professional standpoint, it's worthless.

Yes having your MEI is worth gold. MEI's move into the top tier in the delta recruitment department.

Whatever happened to hiring people on a handshake? HRs got these kids scared that if they don't have enough "points" in their apps they won't get a job so they're asking about getting a MEI to improve their odds. Sigh... no wonder we're flying with these new uptight grads now.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping the response would be "save your money."
