They just told us in class that they’ll be increasing their projected hiring totals by 20 a month to 90 total for the next few months. They want to be between 2900-3000 pilots (currently 2550) by the end of the year and that takes attrition into account. Attrition is about 15-18 per month. Most all to the majors, the others are mainly retirement.

3000 total - 2550 (as of Feb 27) + 150 (15 x 10 months) = 600 my the end of 2007. That would mean that SKW is planning to hire approx 750 pilots in 07.

Also today SKW announced more Delta flying out of SLC. It wasn't much but it added 4 new destinations and stated "more destinations are to come." For more information see Skywest.com.

Good news! Looks like I will be in the 2600's range for a sen number, which means about 300 behind me by the end of the year! I am in the April 2nd EMB class unless they change planes on me then I will have to go back and erase the EMB part of my brain and start over again.

I hope all goes well at XJT I was hired October 2, I have 376 pilots beneath me and still hiring :)

Nothing better than seniority. It is also nice to watch people leave. How many a month are leaving XJT?

Last numbers I heard were 20-30/month just to CAL then about 10-15 retiring/going elsewhere.

Why is the attrition greater at XJT than SKW??

What are the current upgrade times at Skywest, and what is Skywest's hours required for upgrade?

Great thanks, what about the CRJ upgrade, if you can ballpark it?

surfnfly 02-28-2007 02:51 PM
