Eagle Min time

I've heard Eagle is pretty strict on their 100 multi for new hires, is that true? What about total time? Will they go any lower than 400?

Flyby1206 03-01-2007 03:17 PM

They are pretty strict on the 100 multi. I dont know if they hire less than 400 TT. Your best bet would be to fill out the online app and just keep updating it.

shanejj 03-01-2007 04:08 PM

err...
Since I'm 350/90, even if they would hire me....
5 years till I can get my ATP....arent Eagle's upgrade times
somewhere around 8years for captain?
Would that mean only 3 years for me after I get the ATP? lol:D

172capt 03-01-2007 05:23 PM

Well I dont think that would matter anyways because eagle has a min age of 21 and since you say you have 5 years to ATP then that means you are 18 so you have 3 years till Eagle will even look at you.

shanejj 03-01-2007 05:30 PM

so much for that thought....
what's up with this 21?
I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with insurance.....
If the F.O decides to take a shot in the lavatory maybe?:D

You shouldn't even be thinking about flying for a Part 121 carrier. You need A LOT more experience under your belt. Especially with Decision making processes while flying an aircraft. Someone with Less than 400 hours is a disaster waiting to happen. Someone with 1000 hours a little better, 2500 even better yet, 4000+ good.

I say, if they will hire you and you can make it through training, go for it!

On that note though, if you have any doubts that you might not be able to make it through training dont go. That will be a black mark on your record should you wash out.

There are 300 hour 737/A320 pilots all over the world right now... If you have 500 hours you're considered competitive in Europe and other parts of the world.

I flew to Mexico this week, met a guy, in his early 20's, and he claimed he was F.O on a A320 at Air Canada....
I dont even think he had an ATP, so that kinda makes me think he was full of ******.
But....do you guys think it would be possible?
Air Canada's website doesn't state specific hours....

Randolph 03-02-2007 08:47 AM

Wait, so does Eagle require an ATP? Or just the written?

swaayze 03-02-2007 10:14 AM

You have to be 21 because you're gonna need to drink to put up with the long upgrade.

Sorry I just couldn't resist. Not sure why the 21 year age requirement. And IIRC Eagle doesn't require the ATP written. Check here:

age 21 rule is b.s if u ask me...
anyone that knows management knows why most airlines ask for 21?

(don't give the "kids dont belong in the r.j" theories)

the gap between 18 and 21 doesn't make ANYONE more mature....

unless ofcourse you lost your virginity:D

That is weird, he probably was full of sh*t. Especialy it being the 320, becuase they only recently started sending new hires to the 320. But AirCanada only requires a comercial, multi license with a high school diploma and 1000 hours. So I dunno maybe he is some VP's son or something.

Same as in Europe?
Probably cause you basically "buy" your job?
You pay for all your training....IOW you buy your own A320 type rating...
I know they pay it off for you once you get hired by an airline there...KLM atleast does....
