Default Regionals with hard recent experience hours?

So far I have found no mention of recent experience requirements. I have all of the Part 135 minimum total hour requirements, but I'm not current in several areas. I will be doing an IPC next month in a C-172, some night takeoffs and landings, so that will of course take care of recent experience required by FAR 61.57. I have 100 MEL hours, but the last time I flew a twin was ages ago, and I'm wondering if they want recent MEL time too.

Obviously the more recent time one has the better, especially with respect to instrument proficiency. Just wondering if anyone knows what the training departments would have to say about it.

All the regionals just require R-ATP mins. Most will allow you to get the last 25 ME hours in their sim during training.

None are in a position to be very selective right now

Thanks. Has anyone been bold enough to go to training not being IFR current? I mean, you'll definitely become current in training. I have enough instrument time that it wouldn't be like starting over. If there are any carriers still requiring the simulator eval flight (like Horizon) as part of interview, I'd want to be current.

Literally if you have a pulse and 1000 hours you have a job. Guys are showing up that got all their hours VFR but they struggle big time. I would undoubtedly go out for a weekend and practice approaches. Do as much as you can if you feel rusty Do some holding. It'll make a massive difference.

Don't show up and expect to "get current", you will have many other things to learn and will likely struggle while setting yourself up for failure.
At the very least get a good desktop sim and fly some approaches every night. My neighbor has one and I thought I was sitting in the 737 jumpseat while watching him.

Anecdotally, there is a certain regional giving upwards of 50 sims to the *right* candidate. Do not be afraid, for I think yanking a garbage collector off the street and giving him 20 sims would yield better results.

Are you saying 50 four hour sim events before the checkride?

I know I'd be fine putting my family on a plane flown by someone that slow.....

Best to show up current and proficient.....you're IFR rated, so it's expected you can fly IFR upon arrival. They'll teach you how to fly EFIS and FMS, autopilot, etc, but don't have time to cover basics you should already know.

I'm glad this topic was brought up. I currently fly VFR only and will need to get IFR proficient once I get close to 1200 or so. (Do not qualify for r-atp)Which airlines are giving more sim time?
I have 3 regionals that I am targeting due to junior bases. Commuteair, expressjet, republic. All junior EWR.

Airlines are giving more sim time if you earn it. Don't expect to show up, struggle and gets 10 extra sims and keep making mistakes. You gotta make progress along the way. The more ifr current you are the better. Learn to fly ifr and work with a crew. That's the other big killer, too many guys don't know how to fly with a guy sitting next to him.
