Chuck Schumer (D) is the father of the 1500 hour rule. A manufactured 'shortage' the doesn't exist anywhere else in the world.

Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania (R) is the author of the 2018 FAA authorization and pushing for privatized ATC, I could see 250 hours coming back also.
It doesn't result in more jobs. There are literally more jobs than people. Lowering the limit wouldn't create more jobs. It would create less safe cockpits.

You think a shortage doesn't exist anywhere else in the World? Do you live under a rock?

Show me a country where there is a shortage of C172 pilots waiting to be FO's.

Qualified, current and typed A320 captains with 5000tpic? Sure.

Other countries have experience shortages, we have a manufactured experience shortage.

If regionals start to go under, there will be less jobs. Even crappy jobs, like great lakes are still considered jobs by the .GOV.

Less safe how? Completely baseless claim.

China. Middle East. Many many others. Find the ex-pats and where they fly.

I could care less about "how safe" the cockpit is... I like the 1500 hours because I want to make a lot of money. SHOW ME THE MONEY! My second year and Piedmont and I make more than all my years at expressjet combined haha.

Lowering 1500 hr rule would be like eating your seed corn. Like in 2008 when riddle told envoy to not hire their instructors. (From what I heard)

Show me a country with a safety record as impeccable as ours. You want to be like every other country? We will have their problems as well.

Also, are you ok with the supply of instructors drying up because you can't wait a year or two and gain some experience in a cockpit making decisions without an instructor at your side? There is still a shortage even without the 1500 hour rule.

It's not baseless. One of the biggest data-mining industries in the United States, insurance, will raise rates and in some instances won't even insure pilots below a certain experience level. This isn't done because they are biased against low-time pilots. They do it because there is empirical data that proves that the less experience a pilot has, the more likely they are to be involved in an accident or incident.
The risk is higher if you employ pilots under a certain threshold. Is 1500 hours a magic number? No. It's a good start until we can better train our inexperienced pilots and until all 121 carriers put safety over money and train pilots and not just fill seats with meat.

Not gonna happen. Politicians have one job after being elected and that's being re-elected. It would be political suicide for any legislator who attaches their name to a bill to repeal public law 111-216 and God forbid an airliner crashed with a 250 wonder in the cockpit.
