in the same Boat
In the same boat havent flown for 7 years just getting back into the swing. Former Mesaba FO have about 1650 TT and 800hrs in the saab 340(no written yet )(NY based preferred)
Im gonna hit the books hard, ill probably do a BFR then a IPC, and rack up like 20-25 hours in a 172 before interview which im aiming to be sometime in Oct or Nov.
Also heard Sheppard air interview prep has all the written questions for regional carriers?
Everyone still using the gouges?
Any other tips and tricks to speed the learning curve is welcomed.
Thanks

Most if not all of the regionals would be interested. I would suggest if you can attend a conference, hiring event, etc. to talk to some recruiters and find the right regional for you. You may be offered to interview on the spot. Commuting concerns, bonus, flow, preferential interview, are some things for you to consider. Prior 121 time is valuable to them because it makes you eligible to upgrade sooner than a lot of other candidates. A regional with an AQP program is good for training if needing an extra sim or two. Sheppard air 121 interview prep Jeppesen plate, reading metar for most interviews. Expect mainly hr questions. I had 7 years off and every regional I applied to offered an interview. Everyone I interviewed with offered a job and some additional bonus money. Also most will send you to ATP CTP course to get your ATP written done. 6 hours in sims too, not pass fail but valuable time to get back in the seat. Sheppard air has a prep for the written too, it's a huge question bank but it will get you ready! Start studying that one to two weeks before you go to ATP course. Good luck!

I was out for 10 years.
Did some training at local flight school:
Did Instmt ground school, training flights, BFR, IPC, and some sim stuff. A guy who lived near me had a GREAT setup in his basement (he did sim evals for AWAC), and flew with him several times. Also was flying my PC with rudder pedals and a control wheel.
An advantage I had was I was prior military, and had flown a number of large sim hours.
I think, today, that many of the PC sim programs are really, really great, and great for flying instmt procedures. I also did this at the local flight school with instructors.
In case you didn't know, don't bother flying NDBs. I don't think anyone does those in training anymore...
Recently, read about a guy out TWENTY years. He did nothing at all, just showed up day one of class, and had no problems with training.
