Do you guys even know where you are?
This is Airline Pilot Central- all the information about bases, pay, etc can be found on Mesaba's dedicated page. Look around. |

My bad "DME" didn't mean to hurt your feelings..Im a first timmer.. and I know where I can find most of that information, but what I was looking for was some more insight on how the company really is and its reserve and upgrade time! So relax!

I'm sorry if it came off like a personal attack, it's not you.
We get 100's of posts like yours a week, you're not the only one who does it. So again, sorry. |
RJ85FO will be around shortly, he works for them.
Upgrade time is longer...Right now...8 years? Many people are lifers on the Saab because their so senior and their QOL is excellent. Not sure about reserve time. |

Bases: MSP, DTW, MEM (in that order of seniority) Reserve time: Long on the Saab, Initially will be short on the jet. Upgrade time: short for everyone on the list right now and the first few new hire classes. Once we get into this fall and into ext year upgrade time will probably rise back to traditional 4-6 year levels. Good or Bad: That is in the eyes of the beholder. It is nothing like it used to be. Things are getting a bit brighter and there is still a lot of uncertainty about how it will be to operate wholly owned by NWA and what that means for future growth (beyond 2008). We are flying under a concessionary contract right now and will be through 2012. So, pay is not great, but it is not the worst out there either. Our work rules are above average and the pilot group as a whole is very mature, easy going and well respected. There is a bit of "attitude" right now, but it will wear off in the coming months. We got beat up with the bankruptcy. |
thanks alot RJ....I have an interview on wednesday! What are the chances of the upcomming new hires getting on the CRJ? and is Memphis a good probabilty for new hire base? Commuting from ATL, possible? and finally any tips on the interview process with them; sim, tech...etc? little nervous..thanks again man!

Besides a few furloughs and current pilots most of the new hires will be to the jet if not all of them for a while. I'm not sure when the CRJ will arrive in memphis, probably by the end of summer.
It's kind of a bad deal for the returning furloughs to get stuck in out of base reserve while the new hires hold the line in the base of their choice. |
