Anybody interview at Mesaba?
 

Just wondering if anybody interviewed at Mesaba this week...

I Have one next wednesday....i would sure like to know what it was like!

Although it is dated March 8, 2007, this is an old interview. Location, interview procedures and simulator type are wrong. Would like RJ85FO or XJPILOT1 to verify.

If you have a registered free access account to the aviationinterviews website, there are two recent interviews that are each pretty (90% or so) accurate and detailed. One from March, one from February.

Our certificate chief pilot is Dave WILSON, not Olson like is stated in the February gouge. Watch out for that!

My biggest question is about the written... the Feb gouge (and most of the gouge from 2 years ago) says IFR/Jepp, while the March gouge says ATP and Turbine pilots manual type material.... I don't need specific questions, it would just help out to know which end of the spectrum to cover in my studies.

yeh, so that February gouge has some more misleading things in it. Mesaba does have PER DIEM! It is $1.55/hr. In 2010 it will go to $1.65/hr.

I read it to mean that you don't get per diem while in training... but if you did, that would be nice. :)

Oh, my bad. There is no per diem in training, just the 75 hour flight pay. I must have glossed over the context of how it was written.

Mesaba's test is indicative of where we think a 1000 hour, aspiring airline pilot should be in their knowledge. I would concentrate more time on the AIM, Jepp INTRO pages, and IFR test questions. The test is a mix of that and some basic ATP/TPFM stuff. Then, re-review the AIM. Then practice interview stuff and STUDY THE AIM AGAIN. There is a TON of info in that AIM that people tend to gloss over or not stay awake for. Approach lights, clearances, hold info, wake turbulence, runway markings, ASOS types, icing info, weather forecasts, etc. Spend some time getting really familiar with that AIM. It will be good prep for the written and a GREAT foundation for INDOC training when you get hired, anywhere.
