colgan training and after
just started colgan training today. How hard is it to get your first choice on where you bid, actually how hard is it to get somewhere in the northeast (ie PVD, MHT, PQI)? How soon after you finish sim training do you fly IOE? Any other pointers on training and going thru it?

The northeast is easy to get. Houston is hard. If you dont get what u want right out of training, you will get it 1 to 3 months after. There is alot of movement. IOE will start right away. They need FO's online bad!!!!! Good luck in training and never stop studying. Best advise I can give you. There is alot to know.

IAH is super easy to get right now, they are extremely short FOs
Within the next couple classes, 15+ FOs will go to IAH |
What bout reserve? I heard that they arent really putting pilots on reserve. I also heard of a new hire, fresh out of class who has been sitting in limbo for like two weeks now, whats up with this?

I was assigned IAH out of class but they changed me to a northeast base on my last day of IOE. A lot of the northeast bases are easy to commute to. For example if you are in Syr, there are direct flights out of boston (some on colgan), and if you get stuck the drive is only five hours. Also Mikey Colgan takes good care of you if he knows where you want to live.

Saab, thats because they dont like you.

It worries me that I will be based in Texas and have to leave my fiance and daughter behind. I realize that it is the nature of the business, how would it be to commute to Texas from Boston? Overall, either way I am motivated to move forward with this.

well you might end up in texas if you have low seniority in the class, if your higher up you'll have a much better chance of getting the NE
