Jets for Jobs (J4J)

What is Jets for Jobs (J4J). Sounds like somewhat of a flow back for US Air. What were the terms of this? What carriers were affected by this? How many people are in this program?

BASICALLY, USAIR allowed airlines, such as CHQ, to operate certain jets(RJ's), under their codeshare. In agreement, 50 percent of the pilots flying them must be USAIR furloughees(at least 50 percent capatins, I believe). This is it in a nutshell. AT RAH, there are about 80-100 still left. and there is actually still a pool of them waiting.

rickair7777 03-10-2007 08:48 AM

United did this also at the UAX carriers. The US program was better, cuz the US pilots started as RJ captains. The UA pilots just got an automatic job (no interview) at the bottom of the seniority list (ir RJ FO)

Since most major airline furloughees should be recalled by the end of 2007 (exception is American and US Air), how many of these J4J pilots are at regional carriers. I have the numbers on American, and hotmama said there is about 100 or so at Republic.

Does anyone have the number on J4J pilots at US Air regionals such as PSA, Piedmont, or other carriers (is Mesa one of them?)
Thanks.

As far as UA pilots @ SKW, from what I heard from one of our chiefs, there's not many left and they should be getting their second call back soon. I had the opportunity to fly with one of them, he had just turned 53, he said that his plan was to stay at SKW and finish his career out. Basically, from where he’s sitting, he looked to make about the same by retirement but his seniority at SKW was just too good to leave. He also added, "It's not about the money at my age, I've made my buck."

I flew with a few US guys as my FO in PHL.

Was he a reserve CA, or was he really an FO? The CA's were all stuck at the bottom seniority-wise. Maybe there was a US seniority break for CA vs. FO for those guys?

I flew with several back when it all started who were new-hire captains. This one nice lady showed up on a dark & stormy night for an upstate NY stand-up...we were legal to go, just barely with her high mins but she kept going over the Wx looking for an excuse to cancel. She finally admitted that she was USA J4J, hadn't touched an airplane in three years, had just completed IOE on the 900 in PHX, and was then immediately sent out to PHL...she just wasn't comfortable launching a 200 into a blizzard, guess I don't blame her

Didn't take long for you guys to get off track! If that is hotmomma which it's not then we would have heard from the UPS guys. You don't forget something like that walking around the office. Now XJT has some nice looking pilots!

Well, HMP is lying about something. She/he says she/he is based in MIA and came from American Eagle - hmmmm, no female pilot in MIA looks like the avatar - yes, I looked. No female pilot there came from American Eagle - yes, I checked. So, she/he is lying about something.

To make this thread relevant to todays hiring requirements at mainline, this topic should be renamed BJ4J
