American Eagle-Boston Base
 
Hi,

Anyone familar with AE can answer this for me.

Is Bean town very senior for AE? I have a friend applying who lives in New England. He hopes to be able to commute. Assuming he gets assigned a Jet (ERJ/CRJ), what is his chances of requesting and getting Boston out of training. Also, is BOS an all ERJ base or do they have Turboprops there as well.

Well obviously your friend has not researched AE at all. They are now allowing you to pick your base, so he can get Boston right out of training. Tell him to research a company a little before he gets to the interview it might help him out a little.

Yeah, I justed interviewed and got BOS right away. I am starting on the
2nd. I do hear that its a junior base. Good luck

In BOS there are about 12 FOs (out of 110 total) who are leaving the base next month for either upgrade training, or base transfers, so we are desperate for some BOS newhires! Since they let people chose their base now, we need some locals who want to be based here.

My friend is an accomplished lawyer, who owns a large firm. One of the largest in the state. He's decided that he wants to pursue a new career as a pilot while continuing to reap the benefits of his years of hard work in the law profession. He has been working toward this goal for several years now, and has finally reached the point that he can realize it. I say this to make clear; he is very capable, is familiar with researching topics, and demonstrates tremendous discipline. In fact, by him coming to me, discussing it with me, and me in turn coming to this forum that is research.

But unfortunately for so much of the pilot community, and the aspiring pilot community, we are haunted by these arrogant jerks like yourself, that are determined to make condescending, perjorative, and patronizing remarks in an effort to make yourself feel more important than you are. Your oxymoronic screen name, 172capt, is an indication that you desperately are seeking to be something that you're not. Thanks for answering the question. Next time if you cannot resist your ego trip. Please allow some of the other members of this forum to respond.

I think you got it wrong. First off the problem with this is you... people like you who have to ask questions that have been beat to death on not only this forum but every forum. People who decide to ask other people for answers rather than doing a little research for themselves. All it would have taken was a quick trip to the AE careers page and looking on the pilot information page to figure out that you can now choose your base and none of this would have been necessary. Also I never said anything about you or your friend was simply just trying to give some advice to a answer about a simple question with a simple highly published answer. Now you have gone and took it to a personal level calling me names when you do not even know me. Im not going to come on here dragging this out I just think it was a little uncalled for you to come in here calling me names. But you know what I am no longer going to worry about it you are entitled to your opinion so thats the last I will mention of that.

I am also going to ask you very respectfully to talk to your friend and just make sure he is comming into this for the right reasons. We are now starting to hear about many people who come in to the aviation field after other sucessfull careers in other things to be a airline pilot who may be more well off. Just please ask him not to accept a job flying a aircraft for less than industry standard because he might be able to afford it. There are lots of people out there including myself that need every penny they should be paid because we have no outside income. I have no problem with what your friend is doing, but just hope he will not sell himself and the rest of the industry short because he is not so much worried about the income from flying because of his other ventures.

Oh and about the name I might fly a 172 but I am still a captain so don't hate!

OnFinal if your friend lacks a sense of humor and a bit of humility like yourself maybe he should take up something a little less competitive. He gave you a pretty blunt, honest response. search the topic and it would have been pretty easy to figure out. Pilots are by nature extremely sarcastic, blunt, and are almost required to be humbled by their peers whether it be constructive criticism or friendly badgering. oh and in this career... if your not a fast learner and ask stupid questions you will get screwed by everyone and their mother. Scheduling, that flight school that charges 300 dollars an hour, the fat flight attendant ..... do your homework and dont mess with the fatties
