I think that any profession based on something you love to do will eventually become "just a job". I'm sure porn stars, rock stars, and pro athletes occasionally have their days where they're just tired of the job and don't want to go to work!
Well said................... If you have to work than yes its the best thing to do...................but its still work, 330am call outs, 4-days turned into 7 days, its a lot and I love to fly 121, but if I had a choice to stay home or work, about 80% of the time I would stay home, other careers I would say around 99% would stay home if they could.......... |
sometimes certain things remind you of how awesome the job is, like flying over the grand canyon on a clear day, getting a picture of a perfect sunset, and doing an arrival over a scenic coastline. or how about coming into chicago from the east, how incredible is that picture, its awesome every time i see it it just amazes me. the scenary totally does it for me (my avatar is a picture i took flying over souda bay, crete). those are my absolute favorite things about flying, if you are into those kinds of things than youll never get sick of it.
not to mention if youre single think of how many flight attendants youll get to plow over the next several years. |
When the weather's nice and you leave and arrive on time, it's a good job.
When everyone is ****ed they have to fly in a 'puddlejumper' and tell you that, it's not so nice. When you fly with a captain who has terrific skills, terrific judgement, great sense of humor, flies by the rules but has just enough flexibility to have fun, it's a good job. When you fly with an insecure, talentless, arrogant captain it's not so nice. When your airline displaces every pilot to the east coast it is not so nice. But making a perfect river visual in DCA is pretty nice. Spending as much time as we do away from home is not nice. Still, yeah, I enjoy going to work. Because I work with a great bunch of pilots and that is all the difference in the world. |

I'm sold... bring on the flight attendants! In all honesty agree with what you all say - Its what you really enjoy doing and who you do it with that matters and will make putting up with the other stuff a little easier. |
