Expedite my passport application?
I am graduating from college in mid-May and plan to get on with a regional shortly after that. I am going to send off to get a passport now, they are saying that it's currently taking about 10 weeks to get your passport, which puts it at early June, so I may be going to an interview without having my passport in hand yet, though it's being processed.
My question is, should I pay the extra $60 or so to expedite the processing so that I'll have it when I send off resumes and interview? Or will it be satisfactory to the airlines to show them documentation that my passport is being processed, since I'd have it by the time I actually started flying for them.
Thanks

Maybe jumping the gun? I got mine in the fall of 2005, it took about 3 weeks, but that was before the passport requirements. I think documentation might be enough, if your not comfortable with it then just pay the money. With the amazing pay in the regionals i dont think youll miss the $60 haha.

Don't over think it - if you don't have it take the copy of the form you filled out. That's what one company told me. I doubt they would not hire someone because of this - if they did, f'em. You don't wanna work there.
That being said, don't lie on an application. If it axe' if you have a passport answer "no". If it's a paper application, maybe write in on the line that asks for the number "application pending" or something.
They told me 6 weeks and I got it in 2, that was before the requirement but still it's a lot less than they quote. Go ahead and send it in, don't splurge for the $60. That's a lot of gas/food money.

Note: If you want (and are allowed) to jumpseat during training you may need the passport for that (for certain on other airlines). That might worth 60 bucks.

agreed, i went to training with mine being processed, no problem. On the first day, they took copies of passports, i gave them mine later that week when it came in. However, i did get my expedited, as they told me to have it for the interview and that was only two weeks prior. After looking back on it, i could have just held onto my 60 dollars, i'm sure i could have spent that on overnites by now.
