Retiring AF Col/best regional option in DFW
I am a retiring USAF col with ~2500 TT (KC-135/DC-9)...I have been out of the cockpit for a few years, so heading to the regionals for a few months with the assumption I would be hopefully picked up by a major. We are thinking of settling down in DFW area. The question is, if my assumption holds true that I get picked up within lets say 6 months (5 of my friends in the exact same boat as me all got picked up within this time), would you shoot for regionals there in DFW (Envoy/Expressjet/Mesa) with the potential of being domiciled there quickly, or head somewhere else with the thought that I would just commit to commuting for those 6 months? I've read the pros and cons on here to all the regionals, but if I'm there for only a short time, am I over thinking it? Thanks in advance...

Choices
I have a number of friends who have been hired this year at Envoy. Can’t speak about ExpressJets. Look past Mesa.
At Envoy, seniority and base assignment are assigned with the oldest in class picking equipment (most ask for the 175) and base first then picks go down to the youngest last. Expect reserve for X months at DFW as an FO. Ground training is done there, sims are in St Louis.
Decline the bonus (multiyear commitment) get your experience, and move on guilt free. PM me and I can hook you up with the current FOs for answering more questions.
I’m at a different regional with request for a DEN domicile.

Thanks for the reply...I was just reading about how Envoy assigns airframe/domicile based on age, that's a good thing for this 50 year old. Envoy seems like a great choice, but I don't have any clue what I'm about

Expect to be on reserve in whatever domicile you can hold based on what is available. This could very well be ORD or LGA.
I agree to not even consider Mesa.
