Quagmire just got paid :D
Well Quag looks like you get a bonus. RAH is down. It went like this.
7am start. Went through the HR part. One guy didn't bring pics. The other (who still got hired) did his test and just circled the answers but never put them on the scantron lol. The practice test you can download from aviationinterviews.com didn't help at all. To be honest I don't think a single question I had was from it. On the flights there I broke out the IFR oral guide and went through every page of it. That helped a TON. I was first done with my test. Went to get water and use the restroom. Talked to another pilot that knew the CFI before me here in Del Rio then went back in with everyone still taking their test. The IFR oral guide was clutch. Then they gave that crazy IQ test. I don't know how many most people do but I was really moving through that test and I only managed to get 38 of the 50. During the presentation I asked if I could get some water because my throat was dry. Left the room then swung by Bart's office to see if he was in. I heard he was a stickler for systems and a captian on the way up there told me he had thousands of hours in Merlins so I was scared to get him. I searched around and couldn't find him so I went back to the HR room and told everyone he wasn't there. We ended up getting the first pilot of the company. I forget his name. They brought me in and everything for me was strait HR. They very much wanted to see that I admitted my position. That I was infact a CFI with no prior 121 experience. When asked what made me think I could complete the training I told them that my previous CFIs have all been through it and having known me as well as they do they felt very confident I'd do alright. Smiled a lot and shook a lot of hands. They asked if I had any CRM and I said no. So I didn't get any CRM questions. They asked me how my IFR skills were and I said I rated myself an 8 of 10. They went very clear to point out that they are wanting to train me to fly a jet not train me on instruments. They also went very far out there to point out during the HR portion that if you had failed a previous checkride and weren't currently 121 that you wouldn't get hired. Only one other CFI and myself had to do the sim. The guy doing it is still an active CFI and is a VERY cool dude. Unlike Skywest he didn't care if I knew the Vspeeds of the baron. He just wanted to see your IFR skills. Made me do a hold and shoot an ILS then failed an engine. I screwed up the failed engine by not cleaning it up. He killed the sim and asked why I didn't clean it up and I told him I simply forgot I was flying a piston. That all my recent twin time was in a Merlin and the last thing you do when you lose an engine is yank the power on the dead engine back because it disables the rudder bias system and turns the blades flat acting like a parachute. He like that I knew my plane. They had asked several of the others to leave. However they called me back in. I had told them I had interviewed with SkyW and they said they wanted to offer me a job now before I hear from SkyW because they would like to have me. Mrs. Bannister is awesome to say the least. At no point during this interview did I not feel like I had it nailed. Having gone to the SkyW first helped me very much as it showed me what an interview was like and that built confidence. ***************************** As far as traveling goes this has been an experience in itself. First off getting there was a constant rush. Had no idea where I was going because a random seat just opened up and they told me to run to gate 16 and get the ticket there to board. I got on the plane and the captain said "Washington" somewhere in his speach. I figured washington state then was confused why I was seeing water off the right side of the wing. I asked the guy next to me where we were going and once I saw the pentagon it clicked. Those around me found it amusing to say the least. I had been too burried in my systems to notice. Then from DC to IND I was first class and that rocked the house. The hotel was the ebst I have seen in awhile. Kids kept me up all night though so no sleep. On the way back they decided to route me to chicago. After 6hrs of waiting in IND to get on a 737 I took a 42 min hop to chicago. It's 1:34am and I'm still here. I can't go to sleep as there is no place to lay down and when I walked out the terminal to pick up my toiletries bag the idiotic TSA wouldn't let me back in. There are thousands of people wondering around trying to get out. More than likely I won't be able to get out today either. My first attempt is 9am. So 7.5 hrs to go. My morning of extreme joy is now fading after 13.5hrs of layover and being told they might not be able to get me out till tuesday. However VICTORY by anyother name would still be just as sweet. So RAH is my new home. I picked up the ERJ-145 I'm hoping I get Houston. Quagmire I feel should get me a handle of Crown Royal or bottle of Johnny Walker Green Lable with his winnings lol. So it's been a VERY long 3 days. I can already feel my motorskills going down the drain as I'm trying to type and I'm sure by now everyone can tell my retartedness in my grammar. I'm seeing what I write, know it isn't correct, but have no brain function available to correct it lol. I'm so dead, no clothes, start class in 11 days, and might not get home for another 2 while still having to finish my Airforce guys and move out of my apt. Man...... Life does come at you fast. Sorry for how poorly written this is. Only the worthy will be able to decipher. Lets hope tomorrow brings good luck or one of you guys coming through here pick me up! PS. Tony I know my writting normally makes your skin crawly... So this probably has you punching the screen. Tackle it if you will.... May he have mercy on you if you do. Duck |

There are no 145s based in IAH for CHQ, only the CRJ. 145 bases are CVG, RIC, BUF, CMH, IND, STL, LGA, SDF, GSO. |
Congratulations, TD. Pretty soon you'll get to do it all over again when you interview with the "big boys."
