Anyone Hiring Part 121 Direct Entry Captains?

Hey All,

I understand Go Jet is hiring DECs. Anyone else doing so that you know of, or maybe has upgrade times that are fast enough to be considered pretty close?

TIA.

10 days at SkyWest if you have the time and don’t mind ATL or DTW.

There are plenty that don't officially have DEC's, but people are upgrading while still in FO training. Endeavor and Envoy are a couple and I know there are others.

thanks for the info.

Looking at the most recent bid award here at PSA it would appear that we are essentially at the point of DECs. You could hold a CA slot before you’re done with FO IOE.

Endeavor is awarding captain from indoc. ATL and NYC both possible

There is already a thread about this in the GoJet forum, but basically G7 is hiring street captains again. Reserve captains at G7 can be,and are, used to fly in the right seat. In my experience this will be about ⅓ of your total flight time.
If your primary goal is to log PIC, the I would go one of the airlines that has a fast upgrade, but does not use you as a Captain paid reserve FO.

Envoy has very quick upgrades. I was awarded the upgrade at 4 months. Other guys got the upgrade while they were still in new hire training.

I sent you a PM.

Not really a bad deal if you need PIC, or a six-figure job, in a hurry. Best to live in base.

I personally expected the recent award to go a little more senior than it did.

Well, if you want to be below the entire First Officer seniority list as of date of hire and sit Reserve until after every single one of them upgrades and bumps you down the list only crediting MMG and 11 days off.... then, sure go for it :p

Six figures sitting reserve ?

2 - 4 years on average till 1000 TPIC depending on reserve utilization, not an efficient way of going about it...

Depends on the airline, most regionals are strapped for staff so if you opt call-me-first you'll fly at most of them.

Assume a prior-121 DEC, some regionals will grant longevity for time served, so that bumps the pay up.

Not for everyone, and certainly not the end-all-be-all. But if you need a job, the bigs aren't calling, and the base works for you...

I think the key with this is don't even consider commuting to a DEC job.
