Visa for Foreign Pilot Immigration

Are any of you guys and gals familiar with the process of immigrating to the United States to work as a pilot?

You will need to have some kind of “right to work” document before even applying (green card or work visa). If you are Australian you can apply for an E-3 visa.

This is it.

If you're not from down under, you'll need to marry an American.

If you are Australian, you'll want to marry an American once you get here, the visa program is not guaranteed to last forever.

Good Afternoon folks,

Just wondering if there’s been any more movement on this. Girlfriend is American, 2500 hours on the 737 and growing. European LOCO I just don’t want to throw myself into marriage to move to the US. Still no other way to obtain a green card except for marriage for a non Aussie.

There are lots of ways to obtain a green card.

none of them are remotely reliable or speedy other than marrying a citizen.

I know Ireland has been trying for several years to be added to that E3 visa program that Australia is part of and have come pretty close in the recent past. I’d say keep any eye on that. Not many options, unfortunately.

Oddly enough as the name suggests I am Irish. I’ll keep an eye on that! Thanks again. Maybe there is hope after all! If not, 90 finance here I come…

Australia isn't part of the E3 program,. It is the E3 program. It was devised for Australia as part of the US-Australia free trade agreement. Why Ireland continues to try and jump onboard baffles the mind.

No bother! It was passed in the US House last year, but stalled in the Senate. Decent chance it’ll be introduced again next congressional session.

Out of all the countries in the world, I'm cool with recip immigration for Ireland and Oz. Very similar cultural values, especially since probably half of us here have Irish blood to one degree or another.
