Pinnacle is a good place to be in my opinion. Work rules might not be what others have, but with the upgrade time, who cares. Also, I've heard that reserve time could be as low as several weeks to a month for new hires.

I think that if you have the time, you have a good chance of getting captain out of class for this summer. REason? There is a lot of fo's here who have more than 3000 hours but want to enjoy one more summer before they upgrade and go back to a bad schedule. I believe that once september hits, upgrade will go back senior for awhile until those people upgrade. On a second note, today is the deadline that we were supposed to have a contract by in order to keep the 17 planes returned to us. We dont have a contract. If NWA was serious about this, we will find out soon. I doubt that our planes go anywhere.

I keep hearing rumors that E9 Mgmt refuses to raise pay in order to keep costs down...seeing whereas Mesa makes more 2nd year than we do, I don't really understand keeping such substandard rates and then wondering why they cant fill the front seats. Does this rumor hold any water at all?

juat got an email from the PNCL ALPA MEC and the issues still on the table are: job protections, compensation, health/retirement benefits and duration
Things agreed on for the positive are: High-speeds will be built into all high-speed lines Elimination of the ability to extend a reserve into a day off Minimum 11 days off for line-holders Elimination of scheduled reduced rest overnights under 9 hours Strict limits on junior assignments and extensions Build-up lines with a minimum of 12 days off Strict rules limiting how and when you may be contacted during a trip Elimination of the requirement that line-holders to check out After hard negotiations the pilot group is 8.3% off of what mgmt is willing to go to over the 5 yr contract- so 1.6% a year gap. Next is an arbitration board and who knows... NW can take 17 planes away at any time but really have no reason to do so- they dont have anyone who can just step in and fly em... Time will tell I guess, but thats the latest. There is a conference call friday I believe but I imagine it wont have too much new stuff in it. |
