yeah but last i checked skywest min requirements were still 1000tt, 100 multi, and 100 inst. since ellens article says they lowered it to 850tt, either she knows something the rest of the world doesn't,, or a lot of what is written is just opinion and not fact. I always get a little suspicious when there is an obvious falsehood as simple as this.
Do I have to do all the work for you guys . . .

Ellen is right on guys,

The pilot shortage is coming and it will stay for long time. Unless we get a 9/11 or a major war break out. GOD FORBID THAT HAPPENING. The shortage is not only in US! It is in China, India, Middle East and soon in Europe. THE PUBLIC FINALLY START FLYING RATHER THAN TAKING THE CAR OR TRAIN. The funny thing is that everyting is connected to each other. What I mean by that is for example the chineese and Indian student and European Students come to US to get flight training, and at the moment we are facing a CFI shortage in US, so these student will be on hold until the school find a new CFI, and the demand keep growing.

So it will be interesting to see what is going to happen in few years, I bet you guys the regionals will raise the salaries and the pilot status will go upp again as it was in late 70's.

So, you guys that just recently graduated,,,YOU GUYS ARE GOLDING,,,I'm one of them!

Guys sorry for my spelling, I'm on my third glass of whiskey on rocks, so cheers.

Good Luck

I left the industry for Conway Freight driving a truck $18.45/hr time and a half after eight 2000 dollar sign on bonus. I have 11,342 hours Saab type Be- 1900 type got rejected amr eagle and Comair . So what truckers make more in their first year than a 9 Year colgan Saab Captain. Let me forget B.S. Business Administration. I'll get slamed by the people at the top of the foos chain because they just don't Care. Welcome to America

Regional wages will never go up so long as we have these scumbag schools like ATP, Ari-Ben, and Delta Connection Academy luring kids out of high school....

Good to be optimistic.

we could get rid of these schools if the FAA is pressured to mandate any pilot working for any Part 121 carrier must have an ATP. This would get rid of the "fly for us in 6 months and then fly a shiny jet syndrome." It would increase safety and the pilots coming in will refuse to work for crap wages since they've actually worked for where they are at rather than being spoon fed by these joke companies.

Ellen: This letter just provides for an interview if one has 850 TT. The conditional offer of employment is offered on the condition that the applicant gains the additional 150 hours before starting class. So, the minimums are the same for everyone else, I guess it could just be called a preferential interview.

You are correct, a pilot shortage is in the future, unfortunately it's not the near future; not near enough, anyhow. For most of us on these boards; by the time management pulls their heads out and agrees to increase wages, we will have found better jobs. For some those jobs will be as pilots, but others will have left the industry forever. We will have suffered for nearly a decade (some for more) in low wage, thankless positions and will finally be sitting left seat earning an respectable salary.

Maybe we can look forward to a better life for our children who wish to become pilots, oh wait, unfortunatley...

Most of us will have moved across the country multiple times away from our families, we will have lost wives or husbands, boyfriends or girlfriends, put off marriage and having children all in order to earn a respectable salary in the career we've chosen.

For many of us, there will be no children to benefit from the new-found benefits that management was forced to give us.

Won't ever happen... there's just too much political pressure from the airlines.
