Canadian Pilot Sponsorship
Hello,
I'm wondering if there are any Canadian pilots here who got sponsored by a regional? I'm thinking of uprooting my family and immigrating to the U.S. due to the bad pay and high cost of living in Canada. So far, I only know that AWI does it via the H1B. Are there any other airlines that are actively recruiting Canadians? Has anyone managed to get a green card through the airline? Is it possible? Thanks! |
I can’t help you with Visa advice because I am a citizen, however, I will say that moving from Canada to the US was the best move I’ve made in my short life thus far, I would never go back.
I do know of an individual who was had received his E3 (I believe) VISA through Skywest and is finalizing his green card. I would call up a regional recruiting department and ask if they will sponsor you for a visa or green card. I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t |

yes he was an Aussie, and no I didn't know that E3 was for Aussies.
I can't imagine why they would sponsor an Aussie but not give a similar Visa to a Canadian. |
Because it literally almost doesn’t cost any money to hire Australians on E-3 visa.

No airlines are doing H1b's yet. |

If you have a US parent you may already be a citizen. If your spouse has a U.S parent he/she could be a citizen and sponsor you.
Marrying an American is the fastest but I assume your spouse might take issue with that. Immigrating to the U.S as a pilot is next to impossible. Does your spouse's career qualify for a TN visa? Maybe that would give you a pathway. |
The E3 visa came about the Bush era as part of a trade agreement with Australia in 2005. |
