training
What's up fellow pilots and brothers? My peers and I seem to be having a good time in training. We laugh, cry, and complain together and it never seems like I am alone even though we are all displaced from our homes. So far training is the best "summer camp" I've been to; and to the prospective pilots looking forward to their first regional training program, you will enjoy it! I just want to throw out a positive view and experience out there to those wishing to apply for a job. Nothing like kicking back a few brewskies by the hotel pool with a group of people involved in the same trials and challenges as you. Don't worry nay sayers, I get my study time in, I put in the time I need to succeed. I am just having fun!
We all have tough schedules ahead of us. But, isn't that why we are in this business? We all want adventure! Screw sitting at home all my life, I want to get out there in the "mix." I want to do it all. I don't want to have a normal job desk job. I will fight as hard as the next guy for better wages when the time comes, but not before putting in the hard work required. I come from a job where getting crap stained was an every day occurrence (and earning minimun wage while doing it). This is the life! Everyone know there is light in the tunnel. We all make what we want from it. Here's to flying, and to eachother; good luck! |

Dude, how many did you have?
|
I certainly don't remember any crying during training.

"It is much appreciated and I speak for everyone who will not post that is thinking the same thing as I am"
A) Post more. B) Don't listen to Skyhigh's diatribe. |
Hey, de727ups? How is the schedule at UPS? Do you fly all night for a few days at a time or do they alternate your schedule?

never takes long for the Negative Nancy's to post a reply. I know that there are not very many female pilot's, but there definitely is not a lack of guys who you would think are female on here. In no way is this a slam on female pilot's either.

Further evidence that the profession will eventually be comprised entirely of ex-blue collar laborers who think they've found the promised land.
Another round of pay cuts, anyone? I'm sure that there are a lot of pilots out there who don't care how much they make, and as a result, are happy working for lower wages, crappier schedules, and less benifits. Just look at some non-union carriers (with exceptions). I hope, as ALPA starts to make its run at getting QOL back after post 9/11 concessions, that pilots at all carriers realize how detrimental it is to our profession when one group decides to "settle for less" because its easier than negotiating with management for what they (we all) really deserve. A nationally united group of pilots, whether it be through one union or simply one ideal, will make each individual pilot group stronger when it comes time to negotiate future contracts against a management who is content to pay us less than we're worth. |
