And there are no "quick" upgrades at Mesa anyways. About 3 year upgrade at Mesa - 2 year upgrade if you are awarded "held" back Captain (which means you still fly around as an FO).

Listen to this!

There was an email sent out yesterday by the company with a standing bid for about 40 - 50 ERJ captains. ALL but the erj FO's were held back. another words they awarded them just in the hopes that everyone would stop running for the door. There was no class date and no mention of when the class date would be. This still didn't take the upgrade past 2.5 years with that many awards on the ERJ. Another words it will likely take new guys over 3 years on the ERJ and 4 years on the CRJ

To top it all off mngm tried something I thought was really funny. They sent out a fake bid showing everyone when they would be able to hold ERJ CA! According to their bid everyone on property would hold Jet CA by next March. This is the most desperate attempt to refill the cool-aid jug I think I have seen! Do they really think they can forecast when those upgrades will take place. How do they know when ppl will retire / leave. This is an obvious attempt to stop the mad rush for the door, and a sorry attempt if you ask me.

Call me crazy but I think they are just trying to answer the questions so many of the senior F/O's ask: when am I going to upgrade?

It's a rough estimate, but at least its something. I think its better than being left completely in the dark.

Disclaimer: I'm not one of the possible ungraders, as I have been around for 3 months.

Disclaimer 2: X-treme, not trying to take you on about this, just tossing my read of it in there.

I think they are blowing smoke up people's butts, or at least trying to but the BS is pathetically obvious (I have ten times your mesa experience :( )

The last thing I would do is take you on over something like this. We would just go get some beers and pretty soon you would understand :D . I am never against the pilots, but mngmt is crazy if they think someone is going to believe that BS bid. How can they upgrade 500 CA's on the jet by next year if we haven't even won any flying.
Mind you those CRJ's aren't even on property yet and the way things are going they will never make it. The extra 6 ERJ's will be offset by the 8 they will be taking away from us next year.
I guess the only way any of their estimates would even come close would be if they sent half of us to China at the end of the year. I don't know about you but JO won't be sending me to Asia in this life. If I wanted to go to China I would apply at Cathay not Mesa.

You got a deal on the beers.:D

I didn't think you wanted to take me on, but I put the disclaimer up because I have been crucified for less on these forums.

I understand this whole thing isn't a bed of roses, but I was looking at it from a neutral, some-what optimistic view. Understand totally where your coming from.

See you out there someday.

The optimistic view is that you can apply to CHQ or SKW in about a year.
