I got paroled!

Had my last Waterski trip today.
Will be joining the ranks of CHQers on the 5th.
Drink a beer for me!

Congrats.. when you get a chance.. please offer some info on the differences between the two companies. I know it's night and day, but first hand knowledge always helps..

Welcome aboard!!

Hold on tight. This year (and maybe next year) are going to be quite interesting. But you will be glad to know that all of the ex-waterskiers that I have encountered have no regrets about the switch.

What plane did you get?

JetJock16 04-02-2007 02:31 PM

ex-waterskiers?

Same plane I'm flying now, which is convenient. :)
There will be a lot of ex-Waterskiers at CHQ in the near future.

That Tomcat is burning WAY TOO MUCH gas. TSA stresses gas savings.
That's why they fly empty planes from STL to RIC and back.

Forgive my ignorance, but I still don't understand. Ex-Mil F-14? I have never heard this term used?

LUV tha PIC Tho!

Haha.
TSA used to fly as TWA Express, with Lake of the Ozarks as a huge destination. Because of this, TSA's radio callsign is "Waterski."
For example, on my last leg today, I was "Waterski Fifty-five Sixty-six."

Thank you and congrats on CHQ. Some say the grass isn't greener; that is unless your headed to SKW, CHQ or XJT. I myself am at SKW.

Enjoy!

Going to use it to cover the taxes on the Roth IRA I plan on investing in as soon as I get it organized.

22 as of the end of October 2006.
I fully intend to be one of the junior ones in class, but I'm okay with that. I was one of the junior ones in my class at TSA, too.

G-Dog 04-02-2007 03:22 PM

Welcome aboard. You are in for a treat, or is that a trick.:D

TSA? You didn't happen to score a zero on the IQ test did you?

johnso29 04-02-2007 04:13 PM

You don't pay taxes on a "Roth" IRA. Your contributions are not tax deductable.

Good move, and let all of your newhire class buddies know that it is a smart move. This place is going down!

PtP

ToiletDuck 04-02-2007 04:27 PM

Yea one of the guys in my interview group put his answers in his booklet and not in the scantron. He scored a zero lol. He got hired though they thought it was funny. He is from TSA i believe. He's in the April 5th class.

My understanding was that the initial contribution to a Roth IRA is taxable, and subesquent contributions are not. I haven't done enough research to understand the complications of the IRA yet, but I do know that it's definitely not too early to start saving for retirement - especially not in this industry!
As far as my new-hire class buddies go: at a minimum, we've lost 5 (including me) to CHQ, one to XJT, and one to a general dislike of the 121 business. This, of course, is only the people I know of. We're leaving like the proverbial rats.

I may be wrong, but I'm not sure that the aptitude test makes a huge difference. I got the call to come to class about half an hour after I interviewed, so there certainly wasn't enough time to send my answer booklet to a third party for scoring.

ToiletDuck 04-02-2007 06:01 PM

They dont do a third party they have the machine in the back room and a lady there that does them while you are being interviewed

BoilerUP 04-02-2007 08:17 PM

Roth contributions are made with post-tax funds....and therefore are not taxed again.

mccube5 04-02-2007 08:22 PM

The gov't needs to revise the system and make those contributions non-taxable. It's baloney that down the road they are gonna find a way to tax you on that money when u get older, just another way they are double dipping.

People need to start looking at what the fellow in Georgia is promoting. He has some radio guy helping to get the word out, Neal Boortz(I think). They call it Fair Tax. I have done a little bit of reading on this and it would solve a lot of problems.

Trans States' callsign.

POPA 04-03-2007 06:27 AM

I know that the same questions get asked repeatedly on a message board as large as APF, but I've never seen it happen in a two-page thread before.

Timmay 04-03-2007 06:51 AM

Waterski? I've never heard of that, what's that mean? :D

Alright...maybe it wasn't that funny.

flynavyj 04-03-2007 08:59 AM
