ORD Eagle line

Curious, Anyone know what a typical Eagle line for the ERJ out of ORD would look like? Anyone at Eagle in ORD?

Wow that sucks, 5 legs the first day. I get bent out shape doing more than 3 any day.

I hope not, typically only the reserves end up with 5 leg days here. I haven't had one since.

That DBQ route rocks! A whole 28 min in the air! I miss the DBQ JVL4 arrival JVL Krena ORD route.

supercell86 04-04-2007 10:02 PM

i purposely deleted the hotels because i think it would be improper to publicly list them. they are good hotels. sheraton, holiday inn, crowne plaza, etc. no red roofs or motel six's i am aware of.

well look at the crj/emj bid packets for april my friend. it is becoming more and more typical to have 5 leg days. and with "simplification" you have shorter turns, thank you!

Who do you work for and what airplane do you fly?

Typical AWAC four day: 5-7 legs Day One, 2 legs Day Two, 2 legs Day Three, 5-6 legs Day Last (making you miss your commute home). Typical credit: 19-21 hours.

I actually don't mind doing 4-7 legs; I'd rather block 6.5-7.5 hours each day I'm working than waste my life away in hotels only making per-diem...

yes, the only reason a 3 day trip of this won't work is they would need more pilots to cover the days and thus they poo poo it.

That seems backwards. It seems a pilot would ideally like 2 legs on the first and last day, with 5-6 legs on days three and four.
Flying less legs on day 1 and 4 means more time at home (not away from base). It would be easier to commute.

Why would the company build lines like that when it won't cost them anymore to make them pilot friendly?

Are most companies like this?

You're right; it is backwards.

Recently, we had mandatory minimum scheduled 12 hour overnights; that has since been reduced down to 11 hours. The company's reasoning is if you get delayed on the first day, a long overnight then limited flying on day 2/3 will prevent cascading delays due to delays and/or crew rest issues. On day 4...well its not the company's problem if you miss your commute because you're late, now is it?

God, I hope not...

Work for XJT, I haven't done a 5 legger since reserve. As a line holder I never see them, 3 legs maybe 4 (at total 20-21hours credit) is the most I ever do. Granted, they are longer legs but still 5 legs suck in my humble opinion.

Recent pairing:

DAY 1:
IAH-RDU
RDU-IAH
IAH-MEM

DAY 2:
MEM-EWR
EWR-DCA

DAY 3:
DCA-CLE
CLE-STL

DAY 4:
STL-CLE
CLE-TYS
TYS-IAH

Total 20.18

I guess that explains all the AWAC JS's I had last week flying PHL-MKE at 0330 in the morning.
Even a few MKW-PHL for early shows. Glad to give you all a lift!

And believe me...all our Wisconsin commuters are VERY thankful for the ride!!!

XJT schedules crews to go all over the country as opposed to most other regionals. I work for Eagle and if you are ORD based, you basically do turns in and out of ORD 75% of the time. This way they can 'adjust' your schedule when weather hits instead of getting stuck at a random station. Eagle is a hub-and-spoke system as opposed to XJT which is working the point to point flying much more than we do.
