One the FAs was seriously injured with part of her crushed by the cart, had to be airlifted.
it destroyed the jumpseat; said FA broke her hip and the CA nearly got fired over it

Do you have the NTSB ID for it or the ASRS report? I was going off of what I heard had happened. The CA must do a great carpet dance to not have been fired.

I don't. I worked at the company at the time. Considering management fired people like it was a bodily function, I'm stunned they kept their job. This particular CA, as you said though, was very good at dancing on the carpet.

How did he dance it so he didn't get fired? Also I think I read about this on a ASRS newsletter but cant find it in the database anywhere.

My response to them: Well if you read the FOM, you will see why you are up here. But the short version is its required and its a safety reason.

LOLd thinking about how this would go down. Good thing no customers were onboard or you could bet that would be on the nightly news before you even got to the hotel.

Found the NTSB report, it was a shocking read and I was even more surprised the carpet dance worked. I think the mitigating factor was that the FAs were not following procedures and that even though the PIC is ultimately responsible, this and his great dancing skills may have been why he kept his job.
