Skywest in SFO

Just read something about Skywest closing their Denver EMB-120 base. They had 5 EMB-120's based there. Two are being retired, and the other three are moving to SFO. I have heard that SFO is only a reserve base for the EMB-120. Do you think they will make SFO an actual domicile, or will these aircraft be sent somewhere closeby like FAT, MRY, SMF...?

Just wondering. I am about to hit 1000TT and I live in the SF Bay Area. I would prefer not to move to Fresno. I would be happy moving to Sacramento or Monterey. Maybe Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, or San Diego for some time.

Would someone from Skywest be so kind as to post domiciles in order from junior to senior (for both the EMB and CRJ (FO)).
Thanks guys and gals.

If you go to the CRJ the junior bases are a tossup, with usually SLC being the most junior, then either DEN or ORD based on what they need at the time. You get an occassional need for FO's in COS and TUS as well (the mother of all nightmare commutes). Not sure how MKE is going to play out, the standing bids show more relatively senior FO's wanting to go there. SMF is fairly higher on the pole in the RJ for FO's, maybe youd get it in 6 months based on the awards I saw recently. SFO is a CRJ reserve base thats way senior. SLC wouldnt be a bad commute for you though

Sounds like if I got the CRJ, I would either move to Denver, or commute SFO-DEN (really easy commute, done it non-reving without jumpseat access many many times). I went to college in colorado for 4 years and I generally like the area. Then I would go to CRJ SMF if I could hold it, until I could upgrade to captain.

Thanks ghills.
EMB bases (from junior to senior for FO's) anyone?

SFO is a reserve base only along with LAX. Currently there are 2 FO EMB and 2 CRJ FO's in SFO. I am not too experienced yet to comment on most JR to SR on bases other than FAT is JR. My guess is if your about to hit the 1000 hour mark and if you are CFI'ing right now you probably will be in a BRO hire pool. I am not sure how exactly they pick which airplane your going to be in? They say its based on company need? I was looking for a CRJ spot but was put into the BRO, so I am happy to do my time flying the West Coast before moving on back to ORD. I think you would have a good shot at SFO, SBA, San Luis, MRY, or Sacramento after training if not soon after. Looks like there are lots people moving all around the system every month. Apply, interview, get a gnd school date, and see what happens. Its all about luck of the draw! If you have to commute for a short time so be it but you will soon be where you want to. At least you will not have to commute from Iowa to FAT. Boy I can't wait! Happy Easter!

They are moving the planes into the SFO system, that covers all of Northern Cal. Fat is by far the most junior base. With the displacements coming from DEN, it will be interesting to see what happens. They say they are not going to release any seatlocks during the displacements.

Moved to the “SFO system” not “to SFO,” this means FAT, SMF, SFO and MRY domiciles. It could be any of them; my money is on FAT seeing it's the most universal domicile in the Bro system. It feeds the LAX, SFO and PDX systems.
