Sim time at SNA (for Skywest interview)
Just wondering if anyone had the contact info for the guy who does sim prep here in SNA. I had heard it was a Frasca 142 and that he could help ya prepare for Skywest interviews.
Thanks! |

????????????dont waste time/money for a regional sim ride, thats bananas
Dude don't you think it's a good idea to be prepared for an interview? I know I will want to be all nice and sim fresh when I go. But I would not suggest dropping a ton of money on anything. Unless it's the ATP CRJ course....:p:p |
if you've never flown a frasca 142 or 131 for the matter, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a little time in one. Most flight schools however have them, and it should be possible to hop in one for an hour or so. When i was instructing, my school owned one of each (both pos's) the 142 had no visual display (sounds crappy) but works perfect, because every approach will end in a missed, which means you'll get really good at flying the procedures. Think we rented them for like 30/hr (expensive) but w/ cfi discount, it'd cost me 3/hr which meant i basically lived in the thing for months before my interview.
PS- I wouldn't go paying tons of money to fly a CRJ/ERJ sim anywhere, you can get hired onto a company without that, and that company will pay to have you fly their simulator. Why spend bux for something you can get for free? |
This is the guy that does the sim prep tailored to the SKW interviews:
Bill Jacobus Flightpaths (949) 852-9385 19531 Campus Drive Suite 6 Santa Ana, CA 92707 (At John Wayne Airport) The SKW sim ride is not a joke, so being prepared wouldn't hurt if you're serious about SKW (it's easy for Saab to say since he didn't have to do that sim ride, and he already has a job  ). |

Thanks Rickair. Appreciate it.

I will say, my Flight school that I worked at had an AST-300, and a Frasca 242:D

How important is it that the time be in a 142? I've got access to a King Air 200 sim at work and I don't know of any 142 sims in my area.

I chose a 142, since SKYW uses a 142 and that ATR 810 thingy.
I think any sim time would be beneficial. I haven't flown a twin in about a year, so I wanna get in there for a couple hours and get used to swingin the gear, and doing proper procedures. I'm sure a KA200 sim would work just fine for that stuff. |
