CHQ 145 Checkride today

I'll be taking my checkride today. It was supposed to start an hour and a half ago, but the sim broke, so it is postponed to 4pm St. Louis time. Not too nervous. Any words of wisdom?

AV8ER 04-12-2007 09:42 AM

whos your checkairman?

Foxcow 04-12-2007 09:43 AM

When coming in for a landing off of an approach, don't forget to look at the wind vector that the FMS provides for you. The check airman may increase/decrease the winds without notifying you. It threw me off big time.

AV8ER 04-12-2007 09:52 AM

Do a thourough receiving...check pins, go through all the systems pages, etc.

I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK, WE'RE ALL COUNTING ON YOU.

reevesofskyking 04-12-2007 12:46 PM

Sit back and relax and breathe

and everyone will make mistakes, if you do, just move on and not let it bother you. once you made the mistake there is nothing you can do about it, just focus on everything else, an a good attitude might help you make it all the way through the rest of the ride and that mistake may not end up being too bad

That is how I do it

Reeves

I may only be human prone to mistakes, but I am one of the finest out there.

I offer proof.... My wife has not left me and taken all my riches and wealth that I have aquired from Trans States.

I rest my case

HAHA

After almost 9 hours of waiting, I finally got into the sim. I was nervous, and I think it showed. I remembered to get the gear down. I started thinking about how everyone at airlinepilotforums was counting on me, so I stepped up my game and passed. Thanks for the well wishes. It really wasn't that bad. I of course had a lot of critique for myself, but on the whole, it wasn't bad. I didn't blow anything. I went around on the no-flap landing because I thought I was eating up too much runway before touching down. The checkairman told me he thought I'd have been fine, but he applauded me for getting out of a situation I didn't want to be in. Came back around to a longer runway and landed fine. So now, bring on the LOFT. I'm ready for a little relaxation and normalcy.

Gratz!;)

AV8ER 04-13-2007 05:44 AM

Congrats! Its a big relief...and look out, LOFT is really tough...

saab2000 04-13-2007 05:50 AM

One step at a time beyotch. Do the LOFT. Get through IOE and you can start to really have fun.

Keep your nose clean for the first year (well, always, but especially the first year) and you're golden.

But if you passed the initial checkride you have passed a big hurdle. Cool!

Airsupport 04-13-2007 06:04 AM

Welcome to the brotherhood... :)

CL65driver 04-13-2007 06:46 AM

Welcome to the club, Iflyjets4food!!!

Remember to bring some clean underwear for IOE.... I almost crapped my pants on my first CAT II ils. And the plane flies NOTHING like the sim.... you'll appreciate how the real 145 flies- especially in the crosswind landings.

Again, congrats!!!! :D

btwissel 04-13-2007 07:20 AM

the sim is almost useless for flying the line. the hardest thing is landings. just remember to stay on the glideslope, and keeps scanning from airspeed to GS and back. on visuals throw in a glance at the runway every other scan

iflyjets4food 04-13-2007 08:14 AM

Thanks a lot guys. It's been an interesting ride. I can't wait to get to the airplane for IOE. I'm sure it flies differently than the sim.

You can say that again. Once you hit the line, there will be no more doing 180 kts like in the sim all the time. No more gear down when the glide slope is alive. It will be 180 to the marker.

Congrats and welcome aboard.

Why so slow? I just came off the 1900, it was 248 to the marker or a slap across the back of the head from the captain for wasting time. You tend to be quick when only getting paid block.;)

Before I have some kid from Riddle explain this, I am kidding I know why so slow.

Congrats on the ride!

Congrats! Remember the only thing you should be worrying about was counting on yourself, not some yahoos on an internet forum. You did well because you were ready! And who really cares what we think?!

AV8ER 04-13-2007 10:35 AM

We're not yahoos, are we??!!
