Applying Early

Does it make sense to apply prior to reaching the ATP mins, and if so, when? I know some airlines like Air Wisconsin and Republic encourage it, but I was wondering about the other regionals.

It seems like most regionals are fine with applying up to 6 months before reaching ATP mins. They want to give you a CJO upon reaching your mins, and get you locked in. The worst that can happen is they tell you to reapply when you are closer or above your mins, but that doesn't seem to be the attitude of most regional HR departments right now.

You should apply before reaching your ATP mins. I applied about 3 months before reaching mine and picked a class date when I anticipated reaching them. I didn't have to, but if you are not going to reach them they will move your class date to the next available slot without any issue.
