Eagle Staion Agent

Hi, I am getting a job as a Station Agent for Eagle pending the Medical/Drug/background checks and had a few questions. How good are the travel benefits. Are flights easy to get, exactly who gets to use them (eagle's site is different than what I was told by the guy giving the interview). What are they looking for in the medical (had mine at ORD this weekend, had to do the blood pressure test twice to pass but she didn't seem too worried--would she have told me then if I had failed)?

Thanks in advance

Just bumping this back to the top. I guess a question about being a station agent posted on Airline PILOT Forums is not going to get a lot of responses.

The travel benefits are great if you have very flexible travel plans. You will be flying standby behind all other passengers, which can be hard in/out of ORD with the load factors. Expect to have at least 3 flights that you could take to get you to/from your destination. You, your spouse (or travel companion) plus your children can use your travel benefits. Travel on AA, AE and American Connection flights is valid. I am not sure what medical standards they hold the gate agents to, but good luck!

i believe your companions cannot travel on connection flights until 6 months or so. after you get hired the entire nonrev benefits and explanations can be seen on jetnet. you should believe in karma as a station agent, work hard to get other nonrevvers on board and i think your attempts will be a lot easier also.

I believe the medical stuff is just to pass the drug test and that your in good health without keeling over on the ramp. I worked as an agent in good old DBQ when I was in college for Eagle. The flight benefits were good and did lots of traveling non-rev. Just be flexible when your traveling and have plenty of outs (other flights incase you don't get on). Always list yourself for first class and if its not available they will put you in the back. Be extra friendly to the AA gate agents, esp in ORD, they can tend to be alittle grumpy at times. You will figure the system out quickly when you start to travel. Your lucky, you get flt benefits right away, when I started I had to wait 6 months before I could do any traveling. Enjoy!

i'm sorry but what is a station agent?

wrf2e 04-17-2007 04:04 AM

Its' an all around airport worker...Baggage handler, gate agent, ticket agent.

Thanks for the input....I am waiting to get the results from the background and medical/drug tests so i can get started. I am going to school to be a pilot and am trying to get my foot in the door.

If you know how to read how full flights will be (which will become your job as a station agent) then traveling will be easy. You'll find how to sink deep into connections, delays, etc in RES and can use that information to better help you travel yourself.
