Default Best regional for a communte from SYR

I'm about 6 months out from the regionals with around 1100TT and climbing. I have a home and property in the Syracuse area (unfortunately but whatever). My current top pick for a regional is Endeavor. I was wondering what may be a good regional apply for in the spring given I will be commuting out of SYR. Anyone on this board actually live in upstate NY near SYR?

Probably the best one is the one that can get you an NYC base the fastest.

Endeavor would work great. You could commute on Delta (which is all Endeavor metal right now) or JetBlue.

Yea, that is why Endeavor is top of my list right now. I will be communicating with recruiting pretty soon, and have at least one contact who is a Captain in case they are still paying referral bonus - she really gave me a nice pep talk about Endeavor recently on the way into JFK. I should have ATP mins by February, have a BS degree, and am former military (if it matters) so hopefully I can get in. Any suggestions on second choices? I will be posting on the Endeavor forum for application timing questions...

If you're looking at New York for commutability, then Republic and Envoy are your best other choices.

Syr gets weight restrictions sometimes due to short runway.

Once you’re a lineholder at 9E you can easily preference for overnights in SYR and should have no problem getting 3-4 a month on the 900 , which will make up for the 3-4 nights a month you’ll likely need to stay in NYC as a junior lineholder (once you have some seniority you’ll hold commutable lines).

Really? Both runways are longer than LGA’s runways.

Go Orange! What I did in my area was look at all the flights going in and out of my airport on flightaware. I know I will have to commute, but I really want to commute on my own metal so I get priority over other standbys. Also, as a former NYer, bid on some routes that take you south. At least you’ll get to overnight somewhere warm and sunny.

So guys I'm revisiting this thread again as I'm now at 1300TT and according to the recruiters I should be applying very soon if not already. Thing is, 9E is looking like things are slowing down and time to get a line from here is looking like a growing delay. I'm considering other options whereby I could get flying faster. Given my advanced age (lol 47) I want to pay my dues as fast as possible at the regionals and hopefully move on within a few years. Looking at EWR as a base now with C5 (Commutair) having 4 flights a day from SYR - C5 is not exactly somewhere I would chose to stay for long but they look like a place to go if you value flight and upgrade time over QOL...Any thoughts folks? Certainly a lot of moving parts in this decision.
