As rumored.. PNCL upgrade mins dropped officially..

"Pinnacle will allow up to 1,000 hours credit to the Total Time requirement and up to 500 hours of credit towards the Multi-engine requirement. Above the 1,000 hour credit, Pinnacle will grant a one for one hour Pinnacle Hour Credit (up to a maximum of 1,500 hours) upon completion of the Pinnacle Captain Mentor Program (to be developed). "

As i understand the wording- 2500TT with 1000 at PCL...

Previous was 3000TT with 500 in type at PCL or 3500TT (off the street)..

Good news for a lot of folks over a pinnacle. Good for them. The real question is, will they be able to fill the right seat now?

Company site (pilot site thats not public)...... I am interested in seeing how many FO's jump on being CA earlier. We have quite a few senior FO's that have the 3000hrs (mins that have existed) who have not upgraded for a multitude of reasons. I am pretty sure my stuff will be in next summer.. I will have the time and just need the bday and keep seniority moving like it currently is.. This is good news for those at PNCL looking for the 1000TJPIC, probrably bad news for the flying public- but our new mins are still hire than *some* other jet operators..

I am not to worried about the 2500tt being to little. I actually think that measuring hours is the least effective way of determining if someone is ready to be a captain. But in a world where its not a matter of skill or recommendations, but a world of seniority, you have to have something to hold people to.

In all seriousness is someone going to say to me with a straight face that if i had flown a cessna 172 for 3000 hours, and then got hired at pinnacle and upgraded that i was more "prepared to be a captain", than flying 1500 hours as an instructor getting hired at pinnacle and then flying 1000hrs so i could upgrade at 2500? please... all this talk about the dangers of lowering mins is rubbish. I think the danger is allowing people to be captains that have 50tt in the plane. I know that is standard practice everywhere but if we are going to complain about times, then that is where we need to look.

I would be more worried about the guy moving from the saab or the bro, to the jet and having less time in the plane than a new hire fo.
