DL suspended when applying first regional jb

Hi guys,

Recently while I was trying to apply for my first regional airline job online, been asked have your driver license been suspended or revoked, and since I moved to a temporary address and didn't update my driver license address, I just did a quick check found my driver license been suspended for 3 months already because of the insurance .
I was very frustrated and figured out it's because the insurance company was unable to verify the address so they canceled the policy and noticed to DMV, so I purchased the new insurance and did the driver license reinstatement, I have submitted application for two regional already and was wonder how this gonna affect my application. Are they going to do the driver history check before the interview or I have chance to explain while doing the interview, in addition I have 2 speeding tickets and one driving with expired license ticket in the past 4 years, am I still have chance get the first 121 job?

I really appreciate if you guys can share your experiences or leave some comments

cheers

They aren't going to run your NDR before the interview. However , you need to explain to them the issue with the suspended license . Hopefully, you also disclosed your speeding tickets in your apps .

I was recently hired at a Major and I had my license suspended back in 15, for an unpaid parking ticket, that I forgot about . I also had a few other speeding tickets . I disclosed and explained the suspension in the interview . It was a non issue .

Disclose everything and you will be fine .

If you can’t obey speed limits, keep your license current, or keep your insurance active how could you be expected to keep your pilot and medical certificates current, obey airspeed limits, and stay abreast of complex regulatory details regarding operating a jet airplane for an airline?

That’s how interviewers will see that...they will pull all your DMV records. You must come up with a convincing answer that will alleviate their concerns.

At the regionals - today - your DMV record is PROBABLY not going to keep you from getting hired. But if your record shows anything like two speeding tickets and driving with an expired license within four years when you apply for major, particularly with what you have already accumulated, they’ll laugh in your face.

If you ever want to get past the regionals you need to avoid further problems. You’ve reached the point where it won’t matter if further infractions are your fault, nobody’s fault, or just some cop having a real bad day who needs to get his mad out. It will be your career will take the hit. One DUI at this point and you can probably forget about a flying career ieven now, so watch how you celebrate when you get the CJO from Mesa.

It must be me, because not having insurance is not a reason to suspend a driving license. Driving without it yeah. Maybe I’m reading to OP wrong....

This is what I was thinking. Your license isn’t suspended for not having insurance... you can have a license and not own a car after all.

No what the OPs saying is correct. Many if not all states will suspend your license for insurance cacellation due to lack of payment even if by error unless you catch it quick. It happens all the time.

Good to know. My apologies. Learned something new!
To the OP... my license was suspended and I’ve been hired by both regionals and a major. I was given the chance to explain every time. And it was for a more serious offense a lonnnnnng time ago.

Time and “that happened back when I was young and foolish” has salvaged many an interview. Recent adverse events, even fairly minor ones, at the major level are more problematic. They have no shortage of people to interview that don’t have any recent issues. Recent events ON TOPIF old events are the kiss of death, because they imply you haven’t learned from your past mistakes.

My regional called me after the interview to verify my speeding ticket didn’t include anything criminal/drug related. I said no and that was that. I assume something similar will happen to you. If they ask if your license was suspended, answer it truthfully and provide an explaination when they give you the opportunity.
