Skywest IOE

Anyone know how long the wait is till IOE at Skywest? I've heard of people sitting six weeks for IOE after training was done. Kinda nice but not really.

Also what about riding jumpseat during that time just to watch and gain some experience of how things really work? Anyone got any advice on that?

Are on the RJ or EMB? As for ridding jumpseat, you'll do it on a weekend during ground school.

No idea what the wait time is nowdays, but if I were you, I would spend an hour a day going over your flows, to keep em fresh. I spent a lot of time on reserve after IOE and that helped me stay on top of the game. Also I didn’t think the FAM flights were all that helpful, after a few it’s more a waist of time than just practicing your flows.

I'm in the RJ. One of my friends at Pinnacle said that they would ride jumpseat till the were comfortable for IOE.

I have friends (upgrades) who are getting 5+ weeks off.

I would definately review your flows and normal (and go-around procedures) several times a week, as well as the walk-around slide show.

I wouldn't go jumpseating though, unless you need to get somewhere. Actually what I would do since you have time off and travel bennies is go to your europe or australia or wherever. Just check your voice and email on a daily basis in case something changes (unlike most airlines, SKW will be reasonable if they call you for a short-notice IOE trip and you are out of the country).

If for some reason you just want to get it over with, call the training coordinator and bug her... she can probably slot you into something early.

I had my checkride on March 31st and my airplane ride on the April 4th. On April 16th I was in Dallas for 700 Sim and that is my month. I talk to our IOE coordinator twice a week and so far she seems to think it’ll be the beginning of May before I get my first trip. By then it will have been 5+ weeks. They said that being 700 qualified would speed up IOE, "BS!"

When I was originally hired a year ago on the bro, I started my first IOE trip less than 4 days after my airplane ride and completed IOE in less than 10 days.

Expect to wait 4+ weeks, after 4 weeks make sure you’re available to accept your first trip. They’ve been having problems with pilots leaving on vacation and unable to accept trips.

What are we getting paid during that time? Are we still at the 60 hr month that we get during training or are we up to the 75 hr garuntee?

enjoy your 4-5 wk paid vacation. that's the last one of those any regional will give you for awhile!

yea use those delta benefits. may i suggest buenos aires. thats a good trip to take while youre on break, its nice and cheap down there and youll most likely ride business class if you time it right.

I did my Sim check ride on April 1, first flight (SLC to IDA) on April 4, and IOE on April 12. I should be done by May 1.

I was on the phone and company email soliciting that I was ready, willing and able. I did not want to sit around.

But, now I'm thinking that it will be wise to get the 700 sim out of the way after IOE
