Pilot Discounts

A friend of mine told me about discounts that some companies give to pilots. Companies such as Dell, Home Depot, Phillips and so on. Does anyone know about this and if so where to get that list so that I can go support these companies by purchasing thier goods at the discounted rate?

My friend said he got it off the XJT forum.

I just sent a bunch of books home via Fedex 2nd day. Cost me 11 bucks. Out of curiosity, I asked the clerk how much the discount was. He said 75%.

Don't forget other travel industry rates such as discounted hotels and sometimes even cruises.

Depends on the airline. When I worked as a station agent for eagle they had a link to an online form that I filled out for my verizon bill. I also got the discount on a product just by mentioning it in the store once.

We get:

Cingular and Sprint.
Dell and Apple.
Ford and Toyota.
Fedex shipping (75% off)
10% off food at almost every airport in the US.
discounts at almost every major hotel network.
Access to the ID90 airline employee discount website.

Just to name a few.

So we get discounts with cell phone bills? What about T-Mobile?

What exactly is the reason behind pilots and airline employees getting these doscounts? I can understand hotels, but why Toyota or Dell??

Corporate discounts are very common with most large corporations - airlines included.

These discounts, are they airline spacific, or industry wide? Do I have to tell people that I am an airline pilot, or do I have to say I am a (insert name of airline here) pilot?

USUSALLY you show your employee ID or purchase through a special company website. For US Airways Express (PSA, Piedmont, AWAC, etc.) we log on to a website, click on "perks" and it takes us to another site for discounts, deals, etc. You can purchase through there. But to my knowlege you can't just call dell up and say "I work for XYZ airline and would like the Employee Purchase Program price for a _____"

For what its worth---Apple Stores give 20% off with US Airways ID's. :)
