Whenever a big plane flys over I drop to one knee and say "oh God, thank you for not making me spend another minute in one of those boredom tubes".

Then I say something for those poor soles stuck in that plane for the next 12 hours or so.

If this is your attitude towards aviation, why did you even start a career in it? Couldn't make up your mind? Young and naive?
Sure...think of the excuses...I have an interesting theory concerning excuses.....
Who are you kidding, sky...
You know you want to be up there....
Everytime your kid points in the air....and you're acting like you don't want anything to do with it....sure..

Flying is fun. Being stuck in a tube for hours to face a rotten hotel room is not. Being poor as a result of your career choice also in not fun and taints everything else about the job.

I don't hold a regional job so I don't want to step on any toes.... but I was recently hired by an unmentioned company to fly weather modification. I have done a weather mod internship in the past and loved every second of it. Now, as a PIC making the "big bucks" I cannot say that I don't love it even more. I don't fly an rj... don't make near to what can be made a decent regional but I enjoy what I do because I am young, single, and have had the sh!t scared out of me enough (well... thats another whole story). All in all I am just thankful that I don't have to flight instruct or banner tow or be a diver driver this summer. Not to start another flame bait argument but I personally think that flying wx mod for a summer is just as important/beneficial as flight instructing.... and so.... I hope to apply what lessons I will learn in hopes of getting hired by expressjet, asa, or any of the multitude of different regionals.

I think I can understand where SkyHigh is coming from but I will say, with all due respect of course, that although he has been beaten down in the past by various companies I don't appreciate the fact that his posts have a negative twist to them. I accept the fact that he didn't like the environment but why spread this sense of hate/disappointment to others?

Just a thought kids.....

Hey fellas... I can only wonder how we or others would classify ourselves as pilots. Have the pilots here ever worked other jobs that they can actually say are better than a career as a pilot? It wasn't that long ago when I was working in a lab or at a desk with no windows, no one to talk to, and didn't always have someone I could call to ask for help when I needed it. To me, this was unsatisfying. I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder.

As do I....I may not even the experience you have saab, but if I got schedule to fly 1000hourse a month..(if thats possible) ..hell, sleep on a coutch if I have to (or the airplane, as MESA..hehe)...I wouldn't care...
I just love flying....
Just like how the current air force fighters watched Top gun and followed their dream, flying for an airline is mine...
And NOTHING at all could ever change that.....
Even if the aircraft get a "autoland" feature....well maybe...
