If you do anything to much you will get very sick of it. I’m gone so much, broke, I have no freedom to do other things I love. Yes some day it may get better if skybus and virgin America don’t kill the profession completely. But in the mean time I have given up some of the best years of my life to sitting in a hotel chasing a dream when all my buddy’s go to the lake, snowboard, dirt bike, camp with their families etc, etc, etc. My wife calls me once every few weeks broke down crying cause she is sick of living by herself. All I have to say is if you really love flying then find a lucrative career, and buy your own plane and go flying with your buddy’s, and family. This is no way to live your life!

To me, this was unsatisfying. I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder.
An airline pilot as a "glamour" job....
Everyone someone sees you walk in full uniform....they all stare and go "awesome"
Perhaps a reason why everyone is telling me im going to be making that "big cheese" now at PSA.....

Hopefully by the time I want to become a familiy man...(30years old or so) thats 11 years from now...
I'm 19 starting an airline career....where will my career be in 11 years?
I know and understand how hard that's gotta be for your wife..but we made this choice because it's what we love...and what we love...
WE DO....why? Cus were MEN!
lol, ok just throwing in some humor....but really...It may be a ****ty lifestyle...I would love it...I love traveling...love flying....who cares if my buddy is snowboarding or going to the lake....I'm doing what I have always wanted....
But I do understand...I'm 19 and single...
you're old and married....ok..not old..but a family man...

I hear ya bro, my g/f of 4 years gets upset every now and then, but I live 20 mins from EWR, and in April I have 15 days off, and all Day trips, and all weekends off, Blocked at 85 hrs, and this is on a relief line, so I have been lucky..

If I was single it would be an entirely different story. But someday you will get married have a family and want to spent time with. Not a real good idea to go out partying with the fa's when your married. So Im stuck to a dinner with the crew hang out a little then back to my room, not all that much fun.

If you're not planning on getting married within a year, you never will
