Wow *sigh of relief* This is great... I'm actually not totally dreading the fact that I've applied to a college to become a pilot. I think I will only read stuff from this thread now! So.... here's a little story from this weekend. I was setting up my son's new swingset that his grandpa got him. We live reasonably close to the hospital here and we heard the life flight chopper coming in. He looked up and said choo choo? I said nope that's a helicopter. He said why? I told him that when people are hurt with boo boos He flys down to take them to get fixed. Keep in mind he's only 2 years old. We walked down the road and watched the chopper come in and land. We sat there admiring it from a distance until it started back up again. It took off and went behind the tree line and he wanted to follow it.

We were then out getting ice cream from a little mom and pop shop in the country when we heard another sound in the air. He looked up and said Hela? I assume he was asking if it was the life flight chopper again. I walked him out from under the awning and it was a little Cessna. I said no that's an airplane. I said if you're a good boy all week next friday we'll go to the airport and see lots of them. He goes *gasp* OH BOY!. About an hour passed and he said, "Daddy? Plane?" I said nope but you're being very good so far. It's now Monday and I think I'm just as excited to go as he is.

OK here's my positive post on aviation;

Eight months ago I stopped flying due to a medical issue. I assumed I was done for good and got a job, still in aviaition, albeit sitting in a cubicle 10 hours a day, 4 days a week. In spite of the culture shock of working in an office, I enjoy the job because I work with a great group of pilots.

Now, I am getting a First Class back at a time when hiring is going gangbusters throughout the industry and I feel so lucky to be making a fresh start at such a great time. I cant wait until the next time I get to take off into a low overcast/ 1/2 sm vis only to find a deep indigo sky giving way to a spectacular sunrise a few thousand feet above. You never see that from a cubicle...

OK, back to being a cynical b*stard...
