Skywest recruitment events
Has anyone been to one of these events? I understand that anyone can go and the doors close at a certain time. However, you don't bring your logbooks. Can someone fill me in on what happens at these events and if it is worth going too.
Thanks. PS I've read the thread from last summer on the same subject. Any new info or opinions? |
Wow... Zero replies out of 62 views? I'm shocked and dissapointed.
Just joking. |
I would wear a suit, bring logbooks, paperwork, etc and be prepared for a technical and HR interview. Check out their website and certainly follow any instructions regarding the group interviews. Airline recruiters like people who can follow instructions without making excuses.
Usually they do a presentation, written tests, and maybe a mini-interview but in some cases they have conducted the full interview minus the sim. Be prepared to make a good impression, you will likely get invited to SLC for the real interview. |
Thanks Rickair. I appreciate the help.:)
Cheers! |
I went to one in Florida. They did a presentation on the company, spoke a little about their values and future plans. After that the 14 or so guys that were there all got called in for a one on one HR interview. Very quick and nothing very in depth. I got an email that afternoon for an interview in Salt Lake City.
When I did the sim ride out in Salt Lake during the "big" interview the guy told me that they keep the frasca in the trailer so they can take it to job fairs and some local recruiting events for full interviews. I guess like RickAir said it just depends on which fair and location you will attend. Good Luck!!! My app was in for 3 months without a call and the job fair scored me an interview that gave me a class date. PM me if you want any more specific info. |

Just joking. Then ask what 2nd year pay is? Then ask them if they know what 1st year Frontier, United, and Delta pay is for their smallest a/c? |
Thanks Ellen...I know you're looking out for me ;) I am aware of the pay or lack there of. I'll tell you the truth since I can tell you think I'm crazy for thinking about $19 an hour (which would be a significant pay cut). Skywest is not my first choice....but it is a choice I'm going to look at. Maybe I won't even accept the offer (if I get one). I figure the interview will be both for them and for me. ;)
Cheers! PS I'll let you know what I think :D |
Don't just focus on hourly pay. Consider it but also look at location, QOL, work rules, benies, etc...
SkyWest seems to be among one of the better options. |

SkyWest seems to be among one of the better options. Compensation is significantly better than average, due to workrules and bonuses. Hourly pay scales do not mean much if you only get paid when the airplane is moving. QOL and the family atmosphere has declined with growth, but it is still better than most regionals. But you should consider almost ANY regional (except blowjets and mesa) if can live in a domicile where CA upgrades don't require 15 years. |
