ASA or REPUBLIC

Any pilots on here that work for ASA or Republic that can give me some insight on the quality of life? Thanks

JetJock16 05-02-2007 11:08 AM

I don't fly for either but with what's going on with ASA I'd choose Republic. ASA's not growing and if they do it's down the road a ways with a few obstacles in their way. Looks like RAH is at the beginning stages of gearing up for their growth so going there would net you seniority relatively quickly. QOL is key but seniority greatly improves any QOL you might expect. Seniority can determine days off, weekends off, holidays off, efficiency of trip, commutable or not and many others.

My advice is to take the seniority (RAH) but remember every changes and nothing's a sure fire bet.

Unless it's a domicile reason this shouldn't be a debate. Republic.

Agree with JetJock, especially after SKYW's earnings statement today . . . I think SKYW is going to hit a very big bump down the road on the operations side of the equation. One in which they are going to have to spend A LOT of money to fix. And it sounds by todays statements that this bump (The MESA Bump) is getting closer.

The real question is where are you from? Stay close to home or live at home if you can. Living with family saved my but on probation.

Go to Tran States and get your CRJ checkout & then go to RAH and cash in on the $2,500 signing bonus for having a CRJ type.

I enjoy working at ASA. The ATR flying is good anyway. ASA's suffering from heavy attrition and we're growing by two or four 700s. However the last transfer of 700s from comair is being delayed a few months until we can hire enough pilots.

Rumor has it that the upgrade time is around 2 years now. *Shrugs*

Good luck

they dont really fly the ERJ, Hulas stands there on the jet bridge with a mace and a machete and forces you to get in the plane and "operate" it!

Skywest is in ATL now as of July 1st I think, sorry ASA guys, if you have the mins this might be a good option. What is so bad about Skywest's income statement Ellen?

flybywire44 05-02-2007 07:54 PM

ASA's agreement with Delta protects our routes untill the end of 08... After that we find out whats up mister pro SKYW Window Seat. Either way I'd like to see a regional come into ATL and try to do what ASA does. ATL is an operational night mare. Either won't be there to care by then; got to make room for kremit14. :)

Do you have any more information in regards to this news? I know that I've seen 3 of the 900s floating around including the one with the new 35 years paint job, but that's about it. Is it going to be a permanent base? I'm scared...

On July 1st there will be 10 crews/20 pilots based in ATL. This will not be a reserve domicile but an actual line domicile. The word around here is that our ATL domicile will grow to include CR2/7 & 9 flying. Otherwise, I don't know, we'll just have to wait and see. When will we know, probably shortly after ASA's new TA is approved because then SKW Inc can make their moves without being handcuffed by the RLA.

$2500 dollars for the SIC type is nice, but I think that a better seniority number by going to RAH right off would be better.
