Default Settle for local regional or not...

I have a decision to make, I hope all the brilliant minds at APC can help me. Should I apply at the local regional which is Piedmont in SBY, MD (About 20 minutes away from home), or hold out for a stronger regional in the NW such as Republic??? Does anyone have any info about Piedmont not listed on APC?

Any comments welcome!!!

I've heard Piedmont prefers guys with previous 121 time, and aren't too interested in regional newbies. Just what i've heard tho. Read through some other posts and you'll notice RAH is definitely more highly regarded than Piedmont. SkyWest too, those two are arguably (understatement, especially here) the best right now.

If you can live at home, that makes up for a lot of pay and workrule problems. This is ESPECIALLY true if there are few or zero overnights. If the upgrade is fairly quick, it might be a good idea.

I used to work at PDT. Great group of guys to work with, and the Dash is a blast to fly. They will hire you right now, and give you $2,500 when you finish training, then another $2,500 after you have been there for 1 year. They absolutely hire you with no previous 121 time. They are VERY short staffed right now, so if you want the job, you will probly get it. Now the bad. Reserve is a nightmare. You will fly your tail off, and if you are not flying, you are deadheading somwhere (@50% pay). No upgrade for a LONG time. There are worse places to go, depends on what kinda time you got. I personally would recommend going to PDT, especially if you can be based at home. Makes things ALOT easier.

Thanks for all the responses.

bizzum, how was the hiring process, technical interview?, Sim ride?. How long did you work with them? Why did you leave?

When I pick a company I really would like to stick with them and not jump from ship to ship.

When I interviewed, which was almost 3 years ago, there was a written and a HR interview. No tech or anything. Now I hear there is a new written and a sim ride, but still no tech, just HR.

I was there for 1 year. I left because there was NO movement from above, only below, and reserve killed me. Just ALOT of political crap that got to me I guess. Now if I was based at home with them, I may not have left FWIW.

Or you could try one of the airlines with a DCA/IAD base.

MDT. AWAC is getting really short, and DCA wouldn't be far from home. It is a good company, with good pay and work rules. Send them a resume, you will most likely get an interview.
