Default Best Work Rule at you Company

Every CBA has highs and lows. Whats the best work rules you have?

No need to say the name of your company, just the rule and how its used.

If we go over 6 hours block we get a free packet of freeze-dried water. All you gotta do is add water!

The combination of line bidding and vacation trip touching is incredibly powerful.

Junior assignment has no teeth if you don’t accept it.

I actually think knowing the names of the companies with awesome work rules would be nice.

That’s one of my least favorites. I’d rather have PBS and actually get the days off I need every month than have half a month off once a year. Plus I can’t afford to drop below guarantee so I have to pick up the dropped trips anyway.

Endeavor

Positive space second flight commuting. Even if you’re coming back from vacation in Europe. Even if the flight is oversold. This makes commuting stress free, except for it can’t fix LGA delays...

Alternate DH. Can swap out the DH at the end of a pairing for positive space home. This is big for commuters on reserve. A great deal of reserve assignments end with DHs.

IOE buy off. Being bought off For IOE there is no provision where you must be reassigned, you can either get bought off entirely and pick up open time for 150% (best if they took the whole trip away) or sit time available in a company provided hotel and make 150% of what you were supposed to make (eg get bought off for 10 hours of a 25 hour trip and it’s now a 30 hour trip, more if they assign you to something that’s higher than 10 credits).

All open time pays 150%, and there has been lots of good stuff this summer and many pilots have credited over 130 hours, some over 150, even more if they’re on a vacation month. I’ve heard of some senior FOs who have Made 225 credit hours because of IOE buy off.

What I wish we had were better vacation rules. A vacation here only provides an extra 4 days or so off. Other airlines with the touching I think can get as many as 12 extra days off using a vacation.

I’ll add I also like the auto release on the last day of reserve if they haven’t called you. For morning reserves at 14:00 you can just leave even though you are on until 19:00. For afternoon Reserves it’s a 19:00 release when you get off at 23:00. Saves a phone call and a “hey can you hang around a little bit longer.”

I wish we’d get rid of ready reserve. We can be assigned it up to 10 times a month. If you’re junior, you’ll hit 10 or close to that quite a bit. Awful If you’re a commuter.

Hands down, no junior manning of reserves..

Been at one other company that pulled that stunt a lot, man totally different job and a lot less stressful!

Duty rig is up there too. Helps when your day is full of NYC delays

More people ought to know about super senior ready reserve ... that can be helpful if you’re a commuter. Start a sequence with 3 pm rr (nyc) end with 1 pm release from rr.
